Puddle lights!! - Tom - 12-12-2012

Right i've decided im going to make puddle lights somehow or other buuuut i need to find some kind of bulb holder to keep the bulb protected from the elements does anyone know where i could get that sort of thing? The plan is to mount it on the underside of the mirrors aim backwards slightly to cover the general door area Smile
Any help or whatever much appreciated, rep available for clever answers!

Theres things like that but that wouldnt protect the bulb from the elements..

I know you said about the bsi unit but all my interior lights are led so surely i wouldnt be stressing it any more by adding 2 more leds? They use piss all power and amperage dont they? If it really is a massive no no then i'll look into some kind of relay or whatever and throw a circuit together Smile

Put them inside like you'd get standard VAGs. Tongue I'm sure you could put a few LEDs into the very bottom of the door card to get the same effect.

What about in the underside of the door, and then wire it up to the door switch so it only turns on when you open the door?

interior lights are not led. they are standard bulbs. TBH i dont know how much you can load them before you damage the bsi but i wouldnt want to find out. your funeral if you do mate.

RE: Puddle lights!! - strictly_perv - 12-12-2012

You can use the interior light circuit to activate a relay for the lights. That way it will take F all power away from the interior

RE: Puddle lights!! - Tom - 12-12-2012

Niall i've changed all of mine to led's Smile

Hmmm something like these could be chopped up and fitted into the mirror housing..
