Weird smoke issue, with a flame.. - Seb_Ryan - 12-01-2012

As said in title, last few days, every now and again (normally in 3rd and when nearly at full boost) youll get a usual whiff of black smoke, but then you get ALOT of blue/grey smoke, which is either oil, or fuel.. but i can never tell, because when i get out, it stops and it just stinks of burning lol. Still makes boost fine, everything is still fine.

But, yesterday it happened, just carried on because it was dark, and quiet, so put my foot down, and POP, big flame shot out the back, and the bang nearly gave my mrs a heart attack.. Still running fine though as i said.

So im either thinking, turbos on its way, and just burning off the oil down the hotside rather than the cold.. or injector is dribbling in some extra fuel and its not quite burning it off, then all of a sudden it got hot enough to ignite in the exhaust - Or just too much fuel, but theres minimal smoke..

Sounds like oil seals in turbo to me but I may well be wrong! Sad

Take off the boost hose and the exhaust and see how much oil there is in there, you will soon know lol

Checked that.. theres a slight film of oil, not an unusual amount tbh.. ive seen worse.

If its turbo i reckon its just going down hotside, not cold

My mates did this, big bang and a flame, turbo was f*cked.

Just leave it as it is until the turbo brakes! At least it will sound good for a bit!

Checked what?? you can't have checked the compressor and exhaust if your still "thinking" that its going down the hot side!

I still think that is what it will be but its always nice to confirm these things IMO Smile
