Smart tv external hdd - Jimmyboycheck - 08-12-2012 I'm getting confused with this when I look for something suitable on amazon it doesent mention that it is compatable with a smart tv. Am I looking for the right thing. For example would this work so I can record stuff from my tv Buffalo DriveStation 1.0TB USB 2.0 External Hard Disk Drive RE: Smart tv external hdd - Niall - 08-12-2012 what tv have you got mate? RE: Smart tv external hdd - Jimmyboycheck - 08-12-2012 A Sony bravia smart tv RE: Smart tv external hdd - Niall - 08-12-2012 Ah ok. Not sure about the sonys but i know all the samsung smart tvs, you can just plug in a hard drive and it will work with the media you have on it providing its in a format the tv can read. RE: Smart tv external hdd - burnmw - 08-12-2012 Any external HDD would work with any Smart TV (capable of recording out to the USB). So yes, the one you "linked" to would work. RE: Smart tv external hdd - Jimmyboycheck - 08-12-2012 Thanks ![]() RE: Smart tv external hdd - Fooby - 09-12-2012 only thing i would do to be safe, is to make sure the USB HDD you are using is powered, i.e comes with a seperate power supply. As depending on the TV USB Voltage, it might not be enough to power a self-USB powered disk. RE: Smart tv external hdd - kyleo92 - 09-12-2012 How about a network External HDD connect up to your Wi-Fi, I know a lot of Smart Tv's can read these plus your other devices can connect to it ![]() Finished reading your post LOL.. dont know if you can record over network drives... hmm RE: Smart tv external hdd - Fooby - 09-12-2012 probably not record directly to it (again, depends on specific make of TV + Firmware revision) you would most likely be able to transfer stuff to it though |
