Screaming AUX Belt? - Bailes1992 - 11-01-2012

AUX belt on my HDi squeels at any revs other than idle, and at idle it chirps.
Theres no knocking sounds so I don't think it's the lower pully.

Going to give it to the mechanic and get him to change the AUX belt, lower pully and tensioner and whatevers squeeling.
Anyone got any ideas what it might be?

Bailes.

Belt just needs tightening up... either that or the tensioner is fecked

Re: Screaming AUX Belt? - Bailes1992 - 11-01-2012

It's more of a mechanical screech than a belt squeel. Thinking maybe the tensioner is nackered or something.

Power steering pump?

Re: Screaming AUX Belt? - Niall - 11-01-2012

My power steering pump screamed when that started to file chunks out of its self. New one can be picked up fairly cheap.

Dosen't seem to get any worse then you move the steering wheel?
But it was the first thing I sprayed with WD40 tonight and it quietened down, but it sounded like something else was chirping aswell.

Re: Screaming AUX Belt? - Niall - 11-01-2012

Mine didn't. No matter what speed the pump was doing, it still made the same noise. Bit of wd40 quitened it for a little while. You could also see little shavings of metal all around that area.
