HID flicker fix guide - Oil-burner - 02-12-2012 Right I've fixed the flickering issue on my HID'S! No pics as I was fighting for daylight yesterday so this is just a quick ms paint interpretation. What you'll need 2x 4,700uf 35w capacitors (from maplins or any decent electrical supplies place) Wire cutters Soldering iron Solder Insulation tape Anyway this is what you should get when you open the box X2 obviously ![]() The power flow obviously runs from your oem bulb connection, through the ballast into the xenon bulb Make sure you can relate your kit to the pic before you continue. Now you need to cut the wires between the oem bulb connector and the ballast as pictured ![]() Strip the ends and you should now have 2x positive (red) and 2x negative (black) wires. Next you'll need your 4,700uf 35w capacitor which will either be labeled + and - or have arrows suggesting the direction of flow which is positive to negative ( as pictured) ![]() Now you need to solder the red and black wires to the capacitor connections as pictured above. Now wrap both of your new connections up in insulation tape then wrap the whole thing up (including capacitor). Do the same to the other ballast and refit into your car. Enjoy your now non flickering hid's! Any questions let me know. Cheers RE: HID flicker fix guide - Eeyore - 02-12-2012 Better make sure you wrap the connections up properly D: Massive short circuiting wouldnt be fun! Do you only have this problem because you didnt buy the 'canbus' kit? RE: HID flicker fix guide - Oil-burner - 02-12-2012 I've no idea, I just bought a viphid kit as recommended by someone on here. Thought the canbus version was only to stop newer cars throwing faults up? The flickering was only slight but you could tell the difference when it was up against a wall. It's the slight dips and spikes in vaultage that does it but easily solved. Also a word of warning, when buying the capacitors, don't ask the bloke for a flux capacitor. Tis quite embarrassing! HID flicker fix guide - kentiiboii - 02-12-2012 Nice guide dude. Love your puctures very artistic your scissors look very realistic! ![]() ![]() RE: HID flicker fix guide - Oil-burner - 02-12-2012 Haha cheers dude. Yeah you forget how basic ms paint is, Would be better doing it on an etchasketch! Also when using scissors please get an adult to help.
