Cameras - samass - 28-11-2012

Ok so my sister wants a new digi camera for Christmas. Needs to be better than het 8mpx phone, and not cost a penny more than 100 quid. I know nearly nothing about what's out there at the mo, so what do you guys recommend?

i would check out the daily deals on ebay. seems to be some decent ones racking up to christmas. you need to scroll quite far down to get to cameras!

go to argos!

RE: Cameras - Eeyore - 28-11-2012

and play.com are usually very good for anything and everything! http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/-/3144/2411/3-/Refine.html?ob=3&cpage=20 that page should be near to £100

RE: Cameras - samass - 28-11-2012

Cully, you really wouldn't me to... Trust.

ok guys, I more meant brands/models etc...what's good, and what's shit?

RE: Cameras - Pompey306mark - 28-11-2012

Should have bid on my 12mp canon just sold on eBay for £32. Was not even that old.

But eBay, Argos any of those places will be good.

Can't really go wrong with any branded camera, canon, Nikon, Samsung, Sony.

RE: Cameras - Curt - 28-11-2012

Panasonic Lumix range is a good start, or Nikon. Just a compact you're after? As you may be able to pick up a bridge for that money, although that depends how interested in photography she is or if it's purely point-and-shoot.

RE: Cameras - samass - 28-11-2012

Bridge... They those compacts that you can change the lenses on? She was interested in one of those, but I figured you'd be right at the bottom of the price range with that...

don't think she's big into pg, so a compact would do the job.

Mines a lumix, few years old but pretty good. Might see what's what with those these days.

cheers guys

RE: Cameras - Curt - 28-11-2012

Nah, bridge is like a halfway between a compact and a dSLR, so smaller/simpler but still with some settings to tweek around with. Also called super zooms.

I've got a Lumix bridge, which has been mostly claimed by mother these days. But it is still brilliant, takes great photos and I kept it a more portable option to my dSLR. Not that I ever see it nowadays lol

Edit: Matt's got the next one on from mine too actually

RE: Cameras - samass - 28-11-2012

Ahh ok, ill have a look into those, see what sorta prices they run at. Cheers Smile
