Firing the XUD - mr_fish - 28-11-2012

Bought this D8A lump from the scrappy.

Was told it was a runner but wanted to hear it for myself.

110K, block is really quite clean (rocker cover seal isn't leaking!)

So we strapped it to the pallet, hung some diesel lines to it and heated the glow plugs.

Its a bit 'fluffy' on running but its been out of the car for the last couple weeks apparently.

Got my eye on a couple shells to put it in but over Christmas going to cam-belt, water-pump, get the pump done and service it up.

Nothing much to see but thought I'd video the thing starting.

Sounds good to me

RE: Firing the XUD - wonkey18 - 28-11-2012

What's it going in mark???

RE: Firing the XUD - Ruan - 28-11-2012

That's it mark, you ra*e that starter bey!!!!!

Sounds sweet as! They sound 50x more refined with the intercooler etc on also, so half the horrible noise is just the silly inlet noise they have with no intercooler.

Get on! I think I have a clue what this is for, but not going to say Wink

RE: Firing the XUD - mr_fish - 28-11-2012

yeah i don't have the intercooler or alternator or PAS pump ATM. It was already robbed off the engine. Will be going down the scrappy to grab one of each as matey owes them to me might as well find a different manifold for FMIC (just in case)

should be interesting when its on full chat when its actually fitted into something.

when i find a suitable candidate, I'll stick a photo up to confirm suspicions.
