Smoke!! - Jenkosowls - 10-01-2012

ok im not worried im just trying to find out the levels off smoke people experience with there dtubs mine as far as im aware and danny2009 hasnt had the pump or turbo turned up. Its running around 14 psi the pump is a lucas and un sure on what turbo. any way had the car iv had 2 days now and its starting to come to life but im finding it likes to chuck plumes of black smoke out the back when under load mainly 3rd. i find it fun as when it happens people soon back off my rear bumper! But is this normal for standerd? The car i believe just has one box on the exhaust system and is standerd as far as im aware given boost readings

Look at the black, circular, plastic cap on the front of the pump and see if there are any marks on it because if there are then its likely that the fuel has been turned up which would explain the smoke as if its 14psi you don't have a leak unless that has been turned up too and is leaking from somewhere....... I would start by looking at the pump though myself Smile

Bet its had the fuel turned up and the turbo's been left standard :p When the whole engine is standard and healthy it should smoke at all. Check the small black plastic bung and the bottom/front of the fuel pump and see if it looks like its been chewed up and hit with a screwdriver lol Smile

Re: Smoke!! - Jenkosowls - 10-01-2012

well this danny 2009 and i looked at the bung and it looks in tact just one small nick but i wouldnt say its enough to move it round

Re: Smoke!! - Dan! - 10-01-2012

Well that would be my thinking especially with the modifications it had come with Dump valve, Boost Guage, Air Filter exhaust etc. But here is a pic and looks intact to me....

Tuned Smile They have just done a very careful job of it by the looks of it! Smile The mark on the left would have been used to hit it with a screwdriver downwards to unscrew it, and then it would have been refitted finger tight and the mark on the right would have been from hitting that side down with a screwdriver to tighten it. Get that turbo turned up to match the fuelling and your onto a winner Smile
