Remove Registration - Frosty - 27-11-2012
Right then, I had a GTi6 that had the reg P306 BFX and I thought it would be nice to be able to take the reg off to either sell it or put it on one of my 306s. My problem is I bought it half stripped down with no TAX or MOT. I have now scrapped the car but I still have the log book and its not been sent off scrap yet. I was just wondering if anyone knew if I'm able to get the reg off it?

Yes i think you can if you are scraping the car it doesnt need tax and mot exc for the plate to be removed and put on retention exc aslong as it doesnt say non transferable plate on the log book

nope no chance last time i checked unless it was a private plate before hand you'd need mot on the car

My plate was purchased from dvla and i taxed and mot the car just to remove it then the car got broke as soon as i had the plate took off. when i rang dvla and told them i had scraped it (i didnt recieve a distruction cert) i asked them if the car needed tax and test to remove the plate and i was told if its being scraped then no. worth ringing them up mate.
aslong as its been taxed or sorn in the last year

ah right. the car has already been scrapped though but i keep the log book just to see if i could take the plate off. be worth a call though like you said

Yes just dont tell them its already been scraped tho as they wont like it as you havent told them and you still have the log book lol

I still have the logbook from my GTI I scrapped in 2010 lol just keep sticking it on a sorn. Ideal incase anyone I know needs to insure a car to keep a policy goingct without the risk of it getting hit/nicked...because it can't lol

Yeah it was. He lived next to my mate in Taunton. I brought some bits and then ended up have the lot off him. Was a shame to brake it but was already half striped and now some of the bits have come in really handy converting my S16 to 6 speed
