Burning Oil - Hitchos - 08-01-2012

Hi all,
now im no expert on engines so i need a little advice my car seems to be burninga lot of oil when i bought it (end of september 11) it was up to the max on the dipstick but i checked last week and was alarmed to see ot was below the minimum so i went to the local garage (whom im sure is only still in busy cause of me lol) and filled it up i did ask him if this was normal and he said for D-turbos of that age it was but now im not so sure :?

any ideas??

few simple checks pal ...

- got any leaks - usually around the rocker cover?
- secondly, change your filter and oil
- thirdly, are you smoking on boost? - any oil in the intercool, quite simple to check, you may have a small amount from over the year wear but a lot 'running' out of the pipes is a worry

but yeh, the derv's do burn a fair bit

Yeah you would have to take the head off and have it practically rebuilt. I wouldnt say its a dont drive it another inch problem but best to get it done soonish

Shouldn't be burning any oil at all bud. My Dturbo is on 150K and the level on the dipstick literally doesn't move between changes and that is with a slight leak on the sump and out of the cylinder head cover.
