Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Nadine - 28-10-2012

Ok so as some of you know for my newbie thread I purchased a 6 that wouldn't start. Was meant to be £300 but I managed to knock him down to £140 Smile set of spark plugs and some fuel later, she came to life. Don't know if it was the look of relief or the look of guttedness on the guys face lol.
So here is how she looks bit if a mess but for £140 who can complain. She came with a folder full of receipts with proof of timing belt done 20k miles ago, new clutch 20k miles ago. A few hundred spent for its MOT in April. Really all that's wrong is a lot of cosmetics. Oh and it took me and the wife 2 hours to clean the inside.

Black '6 120k mot April, tax end of month

All alloys needs refurb but the above one is the worst. Cleaned all the inside, toothbrush was out and all lol. Looks soo much better. I'll pics of her clean once its light Smile

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Pompey306mark - 28-10-2012

Looks like it needs a good bit of work. You should gets loads of help and stuff off here.

Good luck with it.

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Nadine - 28-10-2012

Thank you Smile already got new interior, new rear axle. So will have the passenger seat and rear bench for sale if anyone is interested. They can have the drivers seat thrown in too lol. Oh also sourced a front bumper thanks to Scott

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Scott - 28-10-2012

Definitely can't complain for £140! Although it'll take quite some work getting that all back up to scratch...hopefully that rust comes out without too much trouble! Smile

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Pompey306mark - 28-10-2012

Cool sounds like the main bits are getting sorted pretty quick.

Might be quicker and cheaper to buy a set of cyclones and use them while you refurb the ones on the car if you are going a different colour.

You can find them for anything from £60-£200 depending on condition and tyres.

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Nadine - 28-10-2012

Yeah the rest is probably the worst bit, my mate has said he will wield a plate in if need be. I'll be tackling that when I'm off for a week at start of Nov. I have my astra so this is going to b other halfs run about once its sorted.

The cyclones will be going white, I can either buy a set of steelies so she has something to sit on, or buy a better set of clones. Don't know what would be more cost effective. I'm hoping someone sells a set of white cyclones soon lol

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - MarkTD - 28-10-2012

That's a bargain of a car!

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Nadine - 28-10-2012

Oh forgot to add, he left in a pioneer DEH-P80MP stereo. Really nice stereo, easily worth about £50 haha

Re: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Alee83 - 28-10-2012

That is a real bargain, does need some work though!! Good job on saving it from death.... Smile

If you need some Phase 3 crystal headlights, let me know, I have some going for sale! Wink

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Nadine - 28-10-2012

I will be needing some p3 headlights actually. Will need the stalk too if I'm not mistaken. How much are we talking, they may need to go on the list after the bumper and rust sorting

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - lolsteve - 28-10-2012

Lordy that's in some poor condition, well done for getting her back to life and not just ending up in scrappy.
Will be watching the progress Smile

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Niall - 28-10-2012

You know, id love that car as a project to get stuck into.
Looks like its stood for a long time. Mechanically wise, give it a bloody good going over. Id do a oil, filter, air filter and gear box oil change on it. IMO, leaving cars to stand is the biggest killer!

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Nadine - 28-10-2012

Niall you might find it hard to believe, that car was driven every single day, up until 2 weeks ago! I don't think the guy cleaned it once in the 3 yrs of owning her. Defo will be doing all of the above. Mechanically wise she has been very well looked after, just cosmetically he hasn't bothered

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Niall - 28-10-2012

ah ok.. Just looked like it had stood. Thats good then. Ive had two cars now that have stood for a while and have had failures because of this!

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Scott - 28-10-2012

Jesus, you'd have thought with rust appearing there that someone would have treated it immediately!

Realistically scott, they are a chuck away car! Its only us nutters that spend so much on them!

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Nadine - 28-10-2012

The last owner is a member on gti owners club. The rust will b getting tackled as soon as I have a couple of days off in a row. This is a Learning curve for me too, I've had two pugs in the past but I'm a ford girl at heart. I've had plenty project cars but this is my first project pug. And I haven't a clue haha

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - puglove - 28-10-2012

Got it at just above scrap in the end then. You done bloody well to get it at that. Iv bought gti's to brake in simular condition but with no tax and mot for double that . So yeah fair play.

Also sounds like your on top of it already.

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Nadine - 28-10-2012

Yeah really happy with the price Smile hope u all like lots of pics haha

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - puglove - 28-10-2012

Pics are much better in a project thread rather than loads of words. Much easier after a day at work lol

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Jtrigga - 29-10-2012

I saw this on ebay the listing made me laugh was really tempted to get it myself but glad its gone to a good owner who is going to restore it Smile

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Nadine - 29-10-2012

The listing was very funny, and if I'm honest made the car sound awful lol. Took some clean pics of her today so will post them up in a bit

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Matt - 29-10-2012

Can't wait too see this. This is going to be one hell of a project.

IMO I'd phase 3 that front end, add some subtle lows and refurb the clones Wink

Re: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Alee83 - 29-10-2012

The headlights I got have a couple of clips broke, but not as bad as some I've seen and were, until recently on my Rallye, and stay on sound. Yours for £40 posted! Smile

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Nadine - 29-10-2012

Matt I think ur a mind reader, I think the front bumper I'm getting from Scott is phase 3 has round fogs. Defo want crystal, think I'd want to black mask them however I have to ask the wife if that's what she wants lol. This might sound stupid, subtle lows? The clones are being refurb end white Big Grin

Alee83 I'd love the lights, they need to be added to my list however, I've got a bumper and colour coded bmp stops to pay for in November first

This is what 4 hours of cleaning looks like. Didn't polish yet, or hover, as gonna wait till I've removed interior so I can Hoover it properly

The back window had to be degreased, used washing powder haha

This is what the worst alloy now looks like

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Jonny81191 - 29-10-2012

looks 100x better, keep up the good work!

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Curt - 29-10-2012

All GTi's have round fogs (bar phase 1's obviously) so yeah Scott's one is. The only thing needed to "phase 3" it will be crystal lights . Matt's saying it could do with a whack with the lowering stick, I'd agree Wink.

Looks a lot better with a wash Smile

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Nadine - 29-10-2012

Haha I thought thats what he meant but then thought hmmm maybe it's pug talk for something else. I don't want it too low, so thinking 40mm. Any pics of what 40mm looks like and then what 60mm looks like? Need to source a good condition wheel and gear knob

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - Curt - 29-10-2012

Haha nah. In my opinion go for 60mm... but I like the lows Tongue. Here's a thread with some pictures which may help:

http://306oc.co.uk/forum/thread-4156.html?highlight=lowered+pictures

Good luck finding a decent gear knob! Unfortunately most are worn and new ones are... excessive. I've been on the hunt for ages. I've got a decent steering wheel that I may part with though...

RE: Nadine + Sarah's project '6 - puglove - 29-10-2012

You will be dissapointed with 40mm trust

Think this was about 60 at the time
