DT flywheel warning - Jonny81191 - 25-10-2012 I got very confused earlier.. Trying to lock the engine, there was no way when the fly was locked, the cam wouldn't line up.. Finally realised (and after a call to DumDum, cheers mate!) that as it's a DT flywheel, the timing doesn't match.. Ended up locking the fly, then marking the belt and counting teeth.. Just a "warning" in case anyone else is in the same boat! RE: DT flywheel warning - darrenjlobb - 26-10-2012 The holes are in the same place on both flywheels..... Are you sure you had it in the right hole...there a few notchs you can lock into by mistake... RE: DT flywheel warning - Tom - 26-10-2012 Wrong hole lololololololol (yeh im going) RE: DT flywheel warning - Chris - 26-10-2012 Its a 6 flywheel not a dt one. No timing holes on them atall iirc. RE: DT flywheel warning - cwspellowe - 26-10-2012 Aye 6's you time off the crank and cam pulleys, why it's a ballache if the crank pulley's slipped RE: DT flywheel warning - darrenjlobb - 26-10-2012 Oh GTI6 one I wouldnt know, altho suprised that they removed the holes totally, but could well have given how you time those heaps up! RE: DT flywheel warning - cwspellowe - 26-10-2012 It's ridiculous, you time them off the crank pulley but the outer is bonded to the inner with a rubber strip that corrodes and slips. Daftness. RE: DT flywheel warning - Jonny81191 - 26-10-2012 Whatever it is, it had holes. lots of 'em. Either way, I just did it the "old" way, tippex FTW |
