Anyone else watching the red bull sponsored space jump? - Pompey306mark - 14-10-2012

Trying to break the world record for highest and fastest free fall jump.

Half an hour in, 1hr and a half til they reach 23-24miles above the earth.

43,000ft up at the moment.
-50 air temp.
Travelling at 115mph.

Here is the video from when Joe Kittinger (the current record holder) did it in 1960

Hmm already talk of a fake, computer editing, conspiracy theories etc..

Personally I believe it though, epic man points for that guy! Shame he's called Bumgardener mind

RE: Anyone else watching the red bull sponsored space jump? - lewisdmz - 14-10-2012

Serious goosebumps when he jumped, incredible.

RE: Anyone else watching the red bull sponsored space jump? - Kimmie - 15-10-2012

I don't think they'd really need to fake it in this day and age though. They did say when he jumped there'd be some transmission delay, maybe that messed it up?

RE: Anyone else watching the red bull sponsored space jump? - C.A.R. - 15-10-2012

Watched this on the website, they bigged it up but to be honest it was pretty boring! Can't imagine it being much fun tumbling towards earth at 800mph+ though!

Rock and roll!

RE: Anyone else watching the red bull sponsored space jump? - samass - 15-10-2012

the fact that it was a dude jumping from the dge of space made it pretty interesting if you ask me... i watched the full 2 and half hour ascent too, hooked. hooked watching a balloon slowly go up 120 odd thousand feet. strangely mesmerizing.
maybe thats just me tho, impressed by someone having the balls to sit in what could easily become his coffin, just because.
granted, i wouldnt do it, but hats off to him.
