FANS WONT WORK - Eeyore - 14-09-2012

My fans have all of a sudden completely stopped working. They were working at FCS as we forced them to come on for the rolling road. Several times in the past few weeks they havent kicked in and the engine has voerheated and the STOP light has come on.

All the sensors are plugged in so i guess the thing to check would be the plug (bottom passenger side?) and the relays? Any idea where the relays are located? D:

much love to anyone who can help!

RE: FANS WONT WORK - 4WayDiablo - 14-09-2012

Do you have air con?

RE: FANS WONT WORK - Eeyore - 14-09-2012

yep. unplugging the air con temp sensor (green?) doesnt make it kick in as far as im aware!

RE: FANS WONT WORK - 4WayDiablo - 14-09-2012

Brown plug....

RE: FANS WONT WORK - Eeyore - 14-09-2012

does that not make the fans stay on all the time? D:

RE: FANS WONT WORK - samass - 14-09-2012

nope, turns your ac button into a fan switch

RE: FANS WONT WORK - 4WayDiablo - 15-09-2012

What it does so is what amass said :-) means you can tell if its the fans motor that's f*cked or the wiring
You an figure shit out with it!
Ggaawwwddd saaaammmmmm

RE: FANS WONT WORK - Eeyore - 15-09-2012

ahhhh epic idea! Big Grin so this is a brown plug on an AC pipe on the drives side? or is it the brown one going into the engine?

RE: FANS WONT WORK - 4WayDiablo - 15-09-2012

The first one

As you kinda should have been able to tell by the washer bottle there...

RE: FANS WONT WORK - Matt - 16-09-2012

Just bridge the pins, make sure you get a good connection though. Mine kept falling out as the wire I used was too manly

RE: FANS WONT WORK - spike2002 - 16-09-2012

As said just bridge pins 1 and 3 Big Grin

RE: FANS WONT WORK - Eeyore - 16-09-2012

ok bridged pins and it still doesnt work! D: Car is too low to get the jack under and ive got to leave for uni now! Hopefully there wont be any traffic jams D:

RE: FANS WONT WORK - 306__xrdt - 17-09-2012

Might be relee behind the peugeot emblem front bumper going loose check that out.

RE: FANS WONT WORK - puglove - 17-09-2012

RE: FANS WONT WORK - 306__xrdt - 18-09-2012

My fans diddtn work a couple years ago and engine heating upp so i removed
Peugeot emblem and pushed 2 relays back again and it worked again.

RE: FANS WONT WORK - Eeyore - 20-09-2012

hmmm okay. i cant actually jack my car up as its too low. I need somebody too lift the car up via the arch to actually get the jack under D: When im home from uni ill have to get somebody to help. Luckily traffic hasnt to bad and i get the loser cruiser (bus) into uni if the traffic is bad! D:

RE: FANS WONT WORK - 4WayDiablo - 20-09-2012

Scissor Jack then trolley jack for low entry :-)

RE: FANS WONT WORK - Eeyore - 22-09-2012

right so if the fans arent cutting in at all so... things to check?

relay which is located on the bottom left of the fan unit?

fuse? not sure where as in the haynes its tied into other things which seem to be working!

RE: FANS WONT WORK - rocker8742 - 22-09-2012

Stick a.millimeter across all the fuses anyway might find one has still gone?

RE: FANS WONT WORK - karl1989 - 22-09-2012

put your heaters on when driving that should keep the temps down for now

RE: FANS WONT WORK - Toms306 - 22-09-2012

Lol, Sam had full heat and full fans when we were in traffic in Ipswich last week, it was horrible! But it did work lol. Big Grin

RE: FANS WONT WORK - Eeyore - 28-09-2012

ok right myself and Mooey65 had a quick look a the fans tonight. The bottom green relay had a leg completely corroded! Fitted a new one but no change. We removed the brown coolant plug to turn the fans on and we could hear the relay but the fans still didnt come on. Any ideas? Loose/corroded bottom plug?

RE: FANS WONT WORK - Eeyore - 29-09-2012
