Suspension query - kyleo92 - 11-09-2012

Hey guys/gays,

I'm looking at lowering the derv, I know jack shit about suspension but I'm looking at a drop of around 40mm, it's completely standard height at the moment,

WHAT is the best setup if im only looking a couple of hundred quid.. Is it possible for that budget or am I being Jewish with my money..

If anyone could provide links that would be awesome sauce

I have a week off next week so hoping to do it then, how easy is it and any local hands in the east Midlands area? There will obviously be bacon sarnies and beers and fuel paid for Smile

...or just tell me to fcuk off if im being cheeky Tongue

RE: Suspension query - Curt - 11-09-2012

For a 40mm drop you're best bet would be getting a decent shock/spring combo. Bilstein B6 shocks are a good place to look, although I think you'd have to stretch your budget to maybe £250...

Thanks

That could be arranged lol.. So springs/shocks on the front and drop the torsion bars down at the back, is that right?

RE: Suspension query - Ricky - 11-09-2012

I think B6's are well above £250 for a full set.

I am going to use '6 dampers that I got for £20 for all four, and some half decent 40mm springs, so all in all less than £100. That doesn't include cost to lower the rear if your not doing it yourself..

RE: Suspension query - Niall - 11-09-2012

b4s are 100 delievered and a set of 40mm spax springs are about 75 delivered. Job done!

I have eBay coils at technics and I'm rather happy with them in every way. Although they could be a little harsh for some people :p

That wouldn't bother me too much but cause I'm using it for work I can't have anything too harsh..

Although I do find the standard set up very soft

RE: Suspension query - Curt - 11-09-2012

If it's only going down 40mm there's no point in cheap coilovers, may as well have decent shocks and springs and a better ride.

Just need someone to lower the beam, and fit those better dampers.

RE: Suspension query - gareth7 - 12-09-2012

Just a heads up on the £220 kit mate, I know of two members on .net who've bought and fitted those same springs for their HDi's and they've not lowered them anywhere near 40mm.

have a look here, http://www.theywhoshallnotbenamed/forum/threads/142032-Morgan-s-Moonstone-3dr-HDI/page3 post 51 onwards......worth reading

Re: Suspension query - kyleo92 - 12-09-2012

Oh thanks buddy,.. It does sound like a dodgy batch from that seller which I'm probably not going to get..

Ahhh the search continues :-)

Re: Suspension query - kyleo92 - 12-09-2012

Give Jason at saxo parts a ring dude he did my beam dampers and mounts. Keeping in mind everything was seized and took him 12 hours. Charged me £100. Think it's £75 for the beam on its own. Hes in Langley mill. I know your eastmids ain't you?
