hdi only revs to 3-3.5k and black smoke, Help! - konlabos - 29-08-2012
I have a 2001 306 hdi, it progressivly lost power untill it wouldnt do more than 10mph and fills the road with black smoke.
I have blanked off the egr valve thinking it had stuck open and i have the turbo inlet pipe off checking for shaft play and theres nothing that i can feel, it has only done 120k.
scratching my head what to check next, hope someone can suggest a few things.

Edit: The engine management light is not on and there is no codes

Try unplugging the MAF, takes less than 5 minutes and if the car feels much quicker after then it's probably shot

i tried that, it makes the engine idle sound different as it would be putting in a set amount of fuel instead of being able to adjust it when its connected but still just revs to 3k like limp mode without the engien light on.
the throttle sensor, would it cause a fault like this?

Does the EML flash on when you start the car then go off or does it not illuminate at all?
