Stripped interior and mots - Matt - 25-08-2012

By the time my MOT comes round the car will have no rear carpet, no boot carpet, no c pillar trims, no rear quarter trims, no rear seats, no rear seat belts, wil have buckets, and harnesses.

What's the deal with mots?
Will it pass with a stripped interior or do I have to put it back together and have a standard interior?

Re: Stripped interior and mots - vlj - 25-08-2012

It will pass but they will mark it on advisories as 'missing various interior fittings'

RE: Stripped interior and mots - Connor - 25-08-2012

As vlj said, can't fail on something it doesn't have...

RE: Stripped interior and mots - darrenjlobb - 25-08-2012

Mines never even had an advisory tbh...and has been rear gutted / front semi stripped for years....

RE: Stripped interior and mots - Matt - 25-08-2012

Ahh fair enough, thought they might get funny about the no rear seats/belts.

Would they query me not having a harness bar with harnesses? Ill be doing something as a temporary measure till the cage gets done

As long as it meets the requirements then no. I'm not sure exactly how they test it I'll find out for you.

Darren, the first MOT I did I didn't get the advisory but the second one with different tester I did. Just depends.

Wouldn't you be safe to just fit a tempory bar across your arches for harnesses?

RE: Stripped interior and mots - stevieg - 26-08-2012

if the testers a c*nt he'll stick you on

RE: Stripped interior and mots - Grant - 26-08-2012

I got an advisory for no rear seatbelts fitted...

And then a failure for it being a 306...

RE: Stripped interior and mots - Dum-Dum - 26-08-2012

If theres no rear seats then seat belts dont matter. You'll be fine, doubt you'll even get an advisory for it, I didn't on my old hdi

Stripped interior and mots - Jonny b - 26-08-2012

Mine passed no advisories the other day

RE: Stripped interior and mots - Grant - 26-08-2012

It doesn't count if you blow the mot tester Jonny!

When they are £130 properly done, and I'll be getting a change soon, I'd rather make some temporary measures and save the money towards a cage Smile

RE: Stripped interior and mots - stevieg - 26-08-2012

was a hyosung gt125r

Stripped interior and mots - Jonny b - 26-08-2012

Just bolt your harnesses to the upper seatbelt mount bud

RE: Stripped interior and mots - Matt - 26-08-2012

What about if they are 4 point? Tongue although tbh I'm getting 3 point lol and that's what I plan to do for the meantime

RE: Stripped interior and mots - Dum-Dum - 26-08-2012

Your more likely to get shit for a harness bar (especially if its a home made bodge) than you are with using the orriginal mounts.

When mine was MOT'd the 4 point harnesses were bolted to the floor

Not really. Providing there mounted to a secure place, it doesn't matter. You could mount them to the roof if you wanted, providing it was secure enough. We all know though that a harness bar is safer for you in the event of a crash.
