Turbo Sedan - HDIkyle - 23-08-2012

Always fancied a Sedan so when one came up cheap it would have been rude not to save it.

Cue 1 Sedan with a knackered engine:

Has sucked up water and was running very badly. Smoking all colours under the sun

Then Cue 1 battered Hatch with a great engine but tatty inside and out:

Removed dead engine and put it into the Hatch ready for scrap and spare parts:

Good engine getting ready for TD04, Fmic and 11mm pump all waiting

Also got coilovers and new pads ect to go on and some refurbed wishbones ect but thats for a later post.

Heads ready to get looked at and a good degrease and clean of the waterways are in much need by the looks!

Nice to see another Sedan on the forum.

RE: Turbo Sedan - HDIkyle - 28-08-2012

Thanks always loved sedans. Especially lowered. I was hoping to get one when I got the Estate but were none around locally

Got the head checked over, a slight skim and 2 bent valves replaced also stem seals done, got gaskets and bolts so just needs refitting which I will do next weekend as I have afew weddings coming up so pump change this friday then head back on next once I have give the pistons and waterways a clean out

RE: Turbo Sedan - MarkTD - 28-08-2012

I can't find a sedan anywhere! Sad and that temp engine looks nice Wink

RE: Turbo Sedan - HDIkyle - 30-09-2012

Engines almost ready to refit had new HG, Valves, Cambelt, TD04 going on, FMIC manifold, 11mm gov modded and ground LDA Bosch setup.

Had the subframe seam welded just to give some strength back as i am going to cut the bulkhead back just to make sure i have no issues with the turbo once it's in. (pics to follow)

Cleaned all the rust and shit from the enginebay and gave it afew coats undercoat just to clean it up really and some high temp paint for along the back(might have some before pics as it was driven tho fords and streams daily so had suffered abit.

Just setting the coilovers up on 306 topmounts tonight and the wishbones will have there new bushes in shortly. New wheel bearings and TRE both sides also.

Subframe will be refitted tomorrow along with undersealing of the front wheelarches, back will be done at some point also.

RE: Turbo Sedan - Jenkosowls - 30-09-2012

looks like you got a good layer on there kyle give me a shout when engines going in

RE: Turbo Sedan - HDIkyle - 30-09-2012

Will do hoping to have it in soon, Just need to get a new topmount and that bottom one done and it can go in then, minus a gearbox anyway i am going to get some discs and cut the bulkhead to paint it tomorrow. Ye about 3 coats but to use the last of the tin as i needed a brush cleaning tin Lol

RE: Turbo Sedan - HDIkyle - 11-11-2012

Turbo and fanimold on:

Engine in and gearbox follow:

Had to Dewastegate the TD04 as even with the bulkhead ground out it still pressed into it but luckily my plate press just against the flap arm so it "should" not open. If so only by a small amount which i can live with.

Afew clearance issues to sort. Whats the best way around this? Anyone route the top pipe differently or make up there own?

Oh also fitted a new sump gasket and painted the sump altho now its all scratched :glare:

RE: Turbo Sedan - Dum-Dum - 12-11-2012

OMG, Ph2 sedan, im jealous.

I almost bought a ph2 but it was green and the draw of another bianca and a bosch pump was just too much

RE: Turbo Sedan - Poodle - 12-11-2012

Been waiting for you to update this, looking good fella.

Re: Turbo Sedan - Dan! - 12-11-2012

That turbo pipe is supposed to go through the inlet manifold, like up between the 1st and 2nd runners and then out the drivers side.

Edit, on the fourth photo you can actually see where the pipe rubs slightly on the 1st runner when it's routed properly :-)

RE: Turbo Sedan - HDIkyle - 13-11-2012

I asked afew people that have xantia manifolds they said it goes round the side. I did try squeeze it tho but it was tight

they will fit through the mani like stock iirc you need to take a grinder and shave abit of the support then clock the turbo around more and it will fit easy Smile

RE: Turbo Sedan - HDIkyle - 16-12-2012

Afew things done, radiator, uprated top and gearbox mounts, gear rods, suspensions all on, driveshafts ect just waiting for my brake lines to come and new pads and discs can go on. Ordering some pipe to start cooler this week Smile

Intercooler might be moved over more to the middle will see whats best for fixing it on and cutting for pipes

And i know the hose is squashed on the manifold but with a pipe and clamp on it should be fine as that all moves together so no worries or rubbing

RE: Turbo Sedan - Ben - 17-12-2012

Cooler might be better turned 90 degrees clockwise so the pipes go down the side of the radiator? Bit tight getting them over the top.

RE: Turbo Sedan - Dum-Dum - 17-12-2012

Cant believe your putting a ph1 front end on this. Ruined.

RE: Turbo Sedan - HDIkyle - 17-12-2012

Phase 1 is the best. Outside anyway. Wanted to keep a phase 2 dash. And naa going to cut the slam panel the pipes will go straight over the top, that was the idea to start with

RE: Turbo Sedan - HDIkyle - 02-01-2013

Intercooler fitted, pipes fitting when i get some clamps and a beader:
