Faulty lift pump? - lolsteve - 22-08-2012 some of you might know about my prized collection of fault codes, while thanks to some new engine sensors and help from Poodle the EML which has plauged me since purchase has gone but one little gremlin remains. Sometimes when turning ignition to second click the eml doesn't turn on at all, the two underneath turn on and off fine and I don't hear the whine sound from the lift pump. If I then try and start the engine it'll just crank over and I'll look like a tit in the petrol station!!! Ahem.. Other times the eml light will come on as do the others and the lift pump can be heard, this situation will result in a working car. I know it could be imobilizer but I thought that would just tell the injectors not to fire rather than turn on the lift pump on or not ,so now im thinking whether it could be the lift pump dying sometimes since it also seems stubborn after putting fuel in. Discuss? RE: Faulty lift pump? - Poodle - 23-08-2012 Check your fuel filter housing for flakes of metal, test the lift pump with a direct live. Could be the brown relay behind your ecu, i has a spare... RE: Faulty lift pump? - gareth7 - 23-08-2012 The pump could be on it's way out I'd have said, especially if you can't hear it every time......I'd bite the bullet and change it. RE: Faulty lift pump? - lolsteve - 28-08-2012 Took brown relay off yesterday, sprayed contact cleaner on it all, tapped top of the relay, put it all back together and seems to be starting first time now *touch wood* Didn't work, darn RE: Faulty lift pump? - andywhy - 29-08-2012 I'd say dodgy relay is the cause if it's intermittent like that. RE: Faulty lift pump? - Ruan - 29-08-2012 Definitely the ecu not powering up, all points to the Brown double relay. RE: Faulty lift pump? - Poodle - 29-08-2012 Steve, i've got a known-good relay if you want to try that one matey. RE: Faulty lift pump? - lolsteve - 29-08-2012 Yea if you don't mind, if it turns out mines faulty I'll have another excuse to go back to silverlake RE: Faulty lift pump? - Poodle - 29-08-2012 they've got a new diablo 306 hdi estate in, right by the building though... |
