Handbrake cables - Bananalad - 21-08-2012

How much are they about and whats it like changing them on a drum beam? Smile Thanks!

RE: Handbrake cables - Toms306 - 21-08-2012

About a tenner each, and not too hard to change....even I managed it!

Have to remove drums, and centre console, then basically all self explanatory.....tie some string round the old one though, to use for pulling the new one through.

prob under £15 - and straight forward to do, should have it done in under an hour

Assuming the Sedan handbrake cables are the same length as the hatchback, then according to Service Box they're £36 each Hmm

Are the first two in this link suitable? Thanks Smile

Are the lengths important or is there a good bit of adjustment in it? Also is it worth spending the extra few quid on QH over first line?

RE: Handbrake cables - Toms306 - 24-08-2012

Yes the lengths are important, and one should be longer than the other.

I bought some from ECP and had no problems, not sure if they have ECP's where you are though, or maybe micks garage is the equivalent lol!

RE: Handbrake cables - Bananalad - 24-08-2012

Yeah i see one is longer than the other tom for left and right but there is also different lenghts for different brands lol like 30 and 40 mm??

Got sorted should be here tomorrow Smile
