Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - mark_airey - 24-07-2012 Ok so I thought I popped a boost hose off the other night on my way back from a meeting with a mate (who happens to be an awesome automotive photographer) and a Ferrari Mondial Convertible................... I checked everything over the next morning (as it was 1AM when I got back) and everything looked to be done up tight..........then I spotted this............ ![]() think that might have been the problem..................... Anyway.............onto the reason that this is in the photo section, some of you will have seen this one on Facebook already............. ![]() I have a similar shot from my cam but have massive issues with lens flare from the lighting and yeah its just shit in comparison, this is done in one shot, no photoshop trickery with the bonnet, its one photo.......... I also have this one which is from my own cam (I know Damian has the same shot but I am yet to see it) which is a composite image composed of 2 photos stacked, one for the car lighting and one for the background lighting...........unfortunately my photoshop skills are pretty poor so it could be better but meh............ I think it looks pretty smart! ![]() If anyone is interested the Ferrari was a Convertible Monodial and one of only 89 covertible versions ever made.......... ![]() More amazing work by Damian can be found here - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Automotive-Photography-by-Damian-Hock/300567240010231 here- https://www.facebook.com/Automotive.LightArt.by.DamianHock and here http://www.flickr.com/photos/damianhock/ RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - Curt - 24-07-2012 Awesome, this guys work is incredible. Engine bay is the wrong colour!! Ha ha cool pics RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - mark_airey - 24-07-2012 (24-07-2012, 09:47 PM)Jonny b Wrote: The one with the see through bonnet is clearly a shop!! Clearly isn't! You can have the RAW file off my camera of my original if you like My flared one from a diff angle looks like this - ![]() literally all I have done is crop it down, and the engine bay is currently lacking in orange although there are a few bits visible still ![]() RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - c.gerrard - 24-07-2012 Absolutely awesome shots there!! What's your hourly rate to get some of mine? Think the oil feature in my engine bay will give an awesome effect ![]() RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - mark_airey - 24-07-2012 If you want some done properly by the guy who did mine his contact details are on the facebook linky, I have no idea what he charges but drop him a message and ask. I would be happy to do some for you but obviously they would be nowhere near as good! Maybe see if a few people want to chip in for a shoot with him depending on costs of course! RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - Jonny81191 - 24-07-2012 I need to have a go at that!! Looks awesome mate, get it printed on canvas and framed! That's what I was going to try anyways... RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - mark_airey - 25-07-2012 Telling how its done spoils the fun though doesn't it, it makes it nowhere near as impressive when you know how ![]() RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - THE_Liam - 25-07-2012 That looks amazing ![]() Does anyone else find ity strange that there are similar pics of a Ferrari (only a Mondial I know) and yet we're all like... OMG that 306 is sexy!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - Toms306 - 25-07-2012 (25-07-2012, 07:14 AM)mark_airey Wrote: Telling how its done spoils the fun though doesn't it, it makes it nowhere near as impressive when you know how It really doesn't spoil it, I still can't get my head round how the f*ck its done...and I've just read the other post twice! ![]() ![]() Does look awesome. ![]() RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - Ben Jay - 25-07-2012 camera on a tripod...two pictures...one with bonnet up. then time spent on photo shop ![]() RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - mark_airey - 25-07-2012 (25-07-2012, 09:55 AM)Ben Jay Wrote: camera on a tripod...two pictures...one with bonnet up. And once again, no photoshop involved.............as stated............twice............and with 2 different angles of the same shot! As said already, you can have the RAW unconverted image off my camera if you don't believe me but (at the risk of repeating myself) the second shot I posted of it off my cam has only been converted to Jpeg and cropped down slightly ![]() RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - samass - 25-07-2012 strange Mark, i swear you posted pretty much that exact same post, just a few posts up? i guess some people cant read... ![]() fine then, dont tell me, off to google! RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - cwspellowe - 25-07-2012 Long exposure time mean the lens is open for 30 seconds+, the camera records everything that happens during that time. Then they highlighted the bonnet with a lamp, opened the bonet and highlighted the engine too, brighter light sources show up more on long exposures. If this is all done with the lens open you can shoot the bonnet open AND closed in the same picture as anything that moves quickly ie the person opening the bonnet doesn't show up. Epic shots though mark RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - mark_airey - 25-07-2012 (25-07-2012, 10:58 AM)cwspellowe Wrote: Long exposure time mean the lens is open for 30 seconds+, the camera records everything that happens during that time. RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - Danny2009 - 25-07-2012 Them pictures are epic! RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - c.gerrard - 26-07-2012 Its not actually that difficult to get your head around. Just get a camera, tripod, shutter release cable and go have a play!! That's what Jonny and I did the the night and after a while you figure it all out. "Then they highlighted the bonnet with a lamp, opened the bonet and highlighted the engine too, brighter light sources show up more on long exposures." - It doesn't work that way round (DON'T HATE ME MARK!!!) But yeah, just go have a play really ![]() RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - silverzx - 26-07-2012 More importantly, your on a standard inlet manifold... o.O Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - Jtrigga - 27-07-2012 I see your running the good old adaptor though for the inter cooler setup. RE: Think i broked it.......got a bit excited - lewisdmz - 27-07-2012 For anyone that is wondering this is how I would do it. Get a tripod, take a photo of the car with bonnet open, then take a photo with bonnet closed. Layer the two on photoshop and air brush out the bonnet. Then you actually bother to read the words in the thread instead of just looking at the pretty pictures and realize that you are totally wrong..............that its not how that is done and you would never get the same effect.......never mind eh! nice try! |
