Ed's GTi-6 - Scott - 18-07-2012 I forgot to upload this when I took it a few weeks ago, just found it in my dropbox http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8lsWJKQivA ![]() RE: Ed's GTi-6 - Andy - 18-07-2012 Bit tappy isn't it?? I've heard it's a feature of the ph4 that the cambelts were left loose from the factory resulting in tapping after a few miles. RE: Ed's GTi-6 - Ruan - 18-07-2012 In seriousness, that is tapping... That's not injector ticking, because you can hear it only on a few valves... Made some funky noises when you held it at revs. RE: Ed's GTi-6 - Ruan - 18-07-2012 Though saying that, it could be a f*cked tappet in fairness... It's not a metallic enough noise IMO for it to be a proper tapper... Mine sounded like that after I started it after being left on stands on one side for ages ![]() RE: Ed's GTi-6 - Ruan - 18-07-2012 But then it begs the question, why is a tappet f*cked... Usually oil starvation of some variety... Ed needs to get his old engine in, it was a sweet engine in fairness, it pulled the best of any '6 I've been in for standard... RE: Ed's GTi-6 - Dum-Dum - 18-07-2012 Whats that spare wiring plug supposed to be attached too, (you can just about see it lurking in the darkness) Defo sounds tappy though. Ed's GTi-6 - kentiiboii - 18-07-2012 Diesels sound less tappy RE: Ed's GTi-6 - strictly_perv - 19-07-2012 People should click on the video and read the one of the comments ![]() RE: Ed's GTi-6 - darrenjlobb - 19-07-2012 Rofl. RE: Ed's GTi-6 - Ed Doe - 19-07-2012 Oh FFS!!!! The most annoying thing about this thread is I can't watch the video at work, so assumed it was a video of my car's engine. This made me majorly panicked after reading Ruan's comments. I had to breathe into a paper back for 1 minute. True Story. Ruan, it's hard to tell exactly, but I'm pretty sure the new one pulls just as well. It deffos needs an oil and filters change, and I'll be able to give it hell a lot more once the cooler's been fitted too. Either way, that's why I'm keeping my spare engine; it was a known good un, and I fully plan on doing something mad with it over the course of next year! ![]() RE: Ed's GTi-6 - Chris - 19-07-2012 Have been waiting for someone to put this up. RE: Ed's GTi-6 - samass - 19-07-2012 Ed's gunna get a shock when he actually hears the video... ![]() RE: Ed's GTi-6 - Dum-Dum - 19-07-2012 (19-07-2012, 11:00 AM)Ed Doe Wrote: Either way, that's why I'm keeping my spare engine; it was a known TAPPER, and I fully plan on doing something mad with it over the course of next year!
