Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Scott - 05-12-2011

31/7/11

Hey guys Smile Thought I'd put up a project thread for my Coupe since I took a few photos while I was out yesterday.

I swapped my S16 for a 3L V6 plus some cash my way. It's got the newer D9 engine, running 210bhp, but is still just inside the lower tax bracket so even though it's a 3L I'm still paying the same tax as on the S16. It's got 53k on the clock and is in pretty good condition overall. There are a couple of scratches here and there and a dent but then again it's 10 years old and I wasn't expecting it to be perfect.

Anyway, a couple of photos:

It's not the colour I'd have chosen if I was looking for one, I'd have gotten black, red or satellite grey which is similar to astor and looks awesome.

So far it's been lowered around 20mm and has a powerflow exhaust. I'm going to replace the rear bootlock as being a Peugeot it's ****ed lol Also plan to get a decent induction set up for extra bwarp and also some 17s as the 16s look too small on here and also the tyre size is shit so tyre options are limited and also expensive!

13/10/11

I've not had as much time to come on here lately (crazy busy at work, and just got back off holiday Cool ), and not had any time at all to work on the car. I'm going to be needing some new tyres soon, and since I've already got a set of Speedline Turinis with Eagle F1 tyres on in direct 306 fitment, I thought I'd see how they fitted on the coupe as it's also 4x108. I know the tyres are too small, since standard are 215/65/16s (worst tyre size ever), but I'm not fussed about the speedo readings etc for now.

The only problem with the V6 is that being designed by French people they didn't do anything that a normal person would do, or that would make it easy for someone to buy parts other than those made/supplied by Peugeot. With an offest of ET13, it's a pain in the arse to find another set of wheels which will fit, sometimes even with spacers. The Turinis are ET18, so in theory I should be using some 5mm spacers, but you can't get 5mm hubcentric spacers, and I don't want to be spending money on the car right now.

Any thoughts on the clearance with no spacers?

It's between 1-1.5mm

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Poodle - 05-12-2011

Surely there's a company out there that'll make you 5mm hubc spacers, if you can afford to run a 3l v6 perv you should be able to cover that. Wink

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Scott - 07-12-2011

I may well get myself some spacers/pinch Dum-Dum's spares if he still has them Big Grin I'd quite like the car to be lower and fitting the Turinis would be a HUGE drop. I think it'd actually be on the floor.

And I now have Ruan to blame for this, but my powerflow exhaust is a little too quiet for my liking and there isn't enough V6ing going on so I'm thinking about a straight-through Big Grin

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - THE_Liam - 07-12-2011

Tempted by one of these if I can't find a good '6, I'll be keeping an eye on this...

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Matt - 07-12-2011

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Kimmie - 08-12-2011

I :romance-heartsthree: this car! Scott thinks it's quiet, but when he puts his foot down it growls (obviously not as loud as the S16, but then that was going to make us deaf!)

Also love the heated seats 8-)

Strange, I have heated seats in my Bora and Hannah hates them lol

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Kimmie - 08-12-2011

Haha, you'll never understand us! Scott likes the car to be cool when he's driving, but I get cold reallyyyy easily, so it's win-win!

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Matt - 08-12-2011

Heated seats are always a bonus if your cold the morning after the camping meet too Wink lol

Ha, I have heated seats in the Calibra and Gens doesn't work lol

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Scott - 11-12-2011

Cheers Chris! They're pretty good engines, very smooth! I'd love to have a go in a 306 which has one. I'd also love a straight pipe for mine too, they sound pornographic.

On Friday the EML came on on the way to work and it started running like a dog. Limped it home as I wasn't too far away, and had to get the train to work (nearly two hours to travel the 8 miles to work in total, fml). Called up Dum-Dum at around 4.30 this afternoon to see if I'd be able to have the use of his scanguage to see what the code was, even though I had suspicions that it was a coilpack. That didn't seem to play nice, so we did the manual method and found which coil pack it was. Phoned the local motor factors (Midnight Motors in Wembley, open til 10pm on a Sunday FTW!) and they had one in stock so went and grabbed it Big Grin I'd previously spoken to another guy at a different branch of that motor factors, and was told that it would be £135+VAT for a single coilpack :-O Turns out that was for the 4 cylinder which apparently has the coilpacks on some form of rail connecting all 4, and the one I needed was £45 so that was a bonus! Now running on 6 cylinders again, so many thanks to Dum-Dum for driving me up there, and coming over on such short notice.

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Dum-Dum - 12-12-2011

No worried buddy. Im worried about your OBD2 port, The cap has clearly been on and off many times in its life and my scanguage wouldnt read at all, it wouldnt even try connecting. To put this into perspective the scanguage connected to poodles car even with its fried ECU.

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Ed Doe - 12-12-2011

bahaha, Scott has a loose port Tongue Had too many instruments inserted into it teehee!

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Scott - 12-12-2011

Haha shh you lol

I'm a little concerned too about the port not working...

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - THE_Liam - 12-12-2011

Think I've decided against one of these, bit too modern for my taste these days. Gonna have a look at an old 5 cylinder Audi Coupe 2.2 on Friday, wanted a 5 cylinder for aaaages. Should have made an offer for yours Scott whistle

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Scott - 12-12-2011

You still can whistle

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Scott - 30-12-2011

Sooo, finally managed to get hold of an engine mount, it's a dogbone link, and is apparently a dealer only part. No dealer local to me had it in stock, and thought it'd take at least a week to get ordered in. I was planning on coming down to see Curt today anyway and then going to Bournemouth to see Fooby, so I called Portsmouth's dealer yesterday afternoon and they said they'd have it the next morning, so that was pretty cool.

Picked it up this morning, and drove over to Curt's. It was pretty easy to change actually, as we didn't need to actually jack the engine or anything, as the mount that was causing chronic knocking was the one which is a stabiliser.

This may have been why whistle

This was the only part that was keeping it connected:

Needless to say, big thanks to Curt for doing it, and the car feels muchhh better to drive now.

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Curt - 30-12-2011

Yes it was rather fornicated. No worries mate, good to see you today Smile. Glad it's made a difference!

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Poodle - 01-01-2012

Niiiiiiice, bet that's made a world of difference.

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Scott - 01-02-2012

This badboy passed its MOT today Big Grin

Anyone looking for a 406 V6 with 59k on the clock and a fresh MOT? lol

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Connor - 01-02-2012

What was wrong with that mount?

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Scott - 01-02-2012

Chronic failure.

Really not sure though, think it couldn't handle the POWAAA

Re: Scotts 406 V6 Coupe - Foxy-jim - 01-02-2012

Thats what my lower one is starting to look like! Need to get my uprated ones fitted soon!
