Rallye - Matt - 28-06-2012

Right I'm thinking the rallye is underpowered. Drove to leather head met Samass and then went for a drive and I couldn't pull away from xsi. Fair enough I have a few things in the boot, but surley not enough to make me lose 35ish bhp?

Car is running an enclosed induction kit, a Decat and a magnex stainless steel cat back system.

Before I got it (a week ago) it was serviced every 3 months. It does take a couple of seconds longer to start, so could spark plugs be an issue?

Going to give it a proper service at the end of next month. Spark plugs, oil filter, fuel filter, oil. Thinking maybe it has cheap oil in there atm. Would any of that cause an issue?

RE: Rallye - lewisdmz - 28-06-2012

So many things to look at, what sort of MPG you getting? Any blows in the exhaust system? Cleaned the air filter recently?

How much stuff is in the boot? 20kg?

RE: Rallye - Pompey306mark - 28-06-2012

rallye with an xsi engine lol

give it a good service, and then dyno it.

RE: Rallye - Fozzy - 28-06-2012

When i had all my camping gear in it at curts, Ed could pull away easy enough from my rallye Sad was fine once i unloaded it though Smile

RE: Rallye - Matt - 28-06-2012

Haha mark that is exactly what I was saying last night, but it is definatley a '6 engine.

Doesn't seem to have any blows in the exhaust.

Air filter will come off and will be looking to see if it's shit or not lol

Plan is too service it then dyno. Then if it is down then I just don't know, it's only on 114k and only done 10k in the last 3 years. Think it's been tracked and the engine is tired

RE: Rallye - Pompey306mark - 28-06-2012

What power is the xsi? I cant remember.

I know the rallye is 167bhp.

Weight of both cars?

RE: Rallye - samass - 28-06-2012

Dodgy tappets.

RE: Rallye - Matt - 28-06-2012

Xsi is 130bhp
'6 is 167bhp

Mines a 3dr with a inlet manifold, strut brace, window rubbers, induction kit, a cdplayer in the boot
Xsi is a 5door with nothing in

RE: Rallye - Pompey306mark - 28-06-2012

I meant the actual kerb weight of each car, yours should be lighter and faster.

RE: Rallye - Matt - 28-06-2012

Exactly. I don't know it off tw top of my head, but I don't the all te electrical shit Smile so should be faster

RE: Rallye - Pompey306mark - 28-06-2012

Oh is yours stripped? No back seats?

Rallye is no electrical stuff and aircon, unless you buy the blue one I want.

RE: Rallye - Matt - 28-06-2012

Has seats in atm but not for much longer haha

RE: Rallye - Pompey306mark - 28-06-2012

Yea remove them then you might be quick enough to pull away from the xsi lol.

I joke I hate having a car slower than you know it can be. Reason me and kris tuned mine last weekend.

RE: Rallye - puglove - 28-06-2012

Somthing wrong im guessing, my gti pisses away from the mrs's xsi. And i wouldnt say hers is slow its nippy when your driving it but the gti just rips all the through to 135mph leavin the xsi for dead

RE: Rallye - Niall - 28-06-2012

What speed did you get up to? 1st and 2nd is terrible in these. My old 1.8 was faster to 20-25 than the gti. Could just be you need a dose of MTFU and use the limiter more.

RE: Rallye - Curt - 28-06-2012

Because the limiter will help you go faster? lol

RE: Rallye - Matt - 28-06-2012

Went to some illegal speeds, but was on the private runway so all okay. I was abusing the gears and still couldn't gain, was about equal the whole way down te road

Sounds like you need to do some engine work.

RE: Rallye - Curt - 28-06-2012

Give it a service, clean the air filter and change the fuel filter etc and see how she feels then mate Smile

RE: Rallye - Matt - 28-06-2012

Will do. Recommend any parts?

RE: Rallye - Pompey306mark - 28-06-2012

Ones that fit a 306 rallye.

Sorry could not resist.

I have always used standard parts from euro's. But mines not a rallye.

RE: Rallye - Poodle - 28-06-2012

Last week you couldn't pull away from me in the zx and the gears were to blame, this time it's samass and now the engine's at fault....

Or... you drive like my gran.

/thread

Being useful; i'd go genuine for the rallye mate, doesn't cost a lot from pug anyway. Or do you mean upgrade parts?

I hate you.

So genuine pug oil and fuel filter, gearbox oil.

Do I get engine oil from pug or should I get Mobil stuff?

RE: Rallye - Scott - 28-06-2012

Engine oil you can get elsewhere, but I would definitely get the filters from Peugeot. There was a site I saw a while back which actually had a detailed examination of all of the filters, the OEM one came out on top by far. /geek

Matt I know you're saying it was quicker through all the gears, but if you hit the limiter at all then that can slow you down a fair amount if Sam had his changes spot on...

RE: Rallye - ginge191 - 28-06-2012

Im with poodle on this one; driving like a granny does restrict your ability to chase cars with 30~bhp less

RE: Rallye - Niall - 28-06-2012

Oil from pug is actually fairly cheap and my car is running so smoothly on it. Also have no temperature problems.

RE: Rallye - Connor - 28-06-2012

Maybe your engine is tapping?

Quick glance of the thread and noone has mentioned this? Im disappointed...
