Weird grumbling/whine when slowing down - Curt - 25-06-2012

I have this strange noise which I think is getting louder now, been there since I got the car but was very faint.

It's a strange one to me, it's only when slowing down, when I come off the power. Doesn't do it at any other time, but when I let off it makes a sort of grumbling noise. Most noticeable around 2nd gear speeds.

My initial thoughts have been bearing, but it would do it all the time... Other than that, maybe diff, but it definitely comes from the right (O/S/F) area, my partner agrees.

Any ideas? It sounds gearboxy to me... But like I say it's coming from the driver side. I'm going to get it up in the air at the weekend and check the bearings etc for play/noise.

Cheers.

Drive shaft?

Hmm it's not making any other noises like that though... No knocking, no noises under load while cornering etc

Hmmm... Maybe intermediate bearing? The driveshaft one.

Once you said driveshaft it did make me think that... Guess that could be a possibility. Its definitely coming from that sorta area

It's your engine mate, telling you stop slowing down and hoon it!

Perfect solution to fix everything!
Don't think the same excuse would work with the police though?
