Clutch Problem - Eeyore - 25-06-2012 Yo! Had this posted in my project thread but think it might get seen more here! The clutch pedal is currently sitting in the down position but has about an inch more to go down where it feels the same as normal. I can then pull the pedal up with my hand but as soon as its pressed it goes straight to the floor again. I looked at the arm position when it was pressed down... and then once i had pulled it up and the arm was always at 3 o'clock... pedal down ![]() pedal up ![]() No difference! so im thinking it might be something to do with the auto rachet/adjustment mechanism? ie its not shortening the cable enough? Tried to move the arm manually and could move it back to about 4 o'clock but that was as far as it would go. Thoughts? Thanks in advance! RE: Clutch Problem - Matt - 25-06-2012 Isn't there a spring for bringing the pedal up? Is that could be shagged? If its in 3 o'clock atm i presume it gets pulled to about 1 o'clock to engage the clutch? Clutch Problem - kentiiboii - 25-06-2012 I would go and get a picture of mine for you but sod that I'm comfy in bed at the moment. RE: Clutch Problem - Chris - 25-06-2012 The spring on the peddle pushes the clutch down, I'd say replace the cable first then get the box off after if necessary. RE: Clutch Problem - Eeyore - 25-06-2012 yeh. Definitely investigating the cable first. Isnt there any auto adjuster or something? If somebody could tell me where that lives under the engine bay that would be great. RE: Clutch Problem - samass - 25-06-2012 just change the cable, the auto adjusters are wank and not servicable or manually adjustable. however, if you really fancy getting covered in shit under your car, it clipped to rear of the front subframe, underneath the steering rack RE: Clutch Problem - Eeyore - 25-06-2012 dont suppose anyone can write up a quick guide? RE: Clutch Problem - karl1989 - 25-06-2012 i found it easier to take take out the drivers seat to change the cable. much easier to get to. was a pita to get it onto the car though. RE: Clutch Problem - Eeyore - 25-06-2012 will get stuck in at some point this week. I think somebody in my project thread said that i need to take the battery box, ecu and the mount for them out to get best access to where the cable goes etc? RE: Clutch Problem - karl1989 - 25-06-2012 ye i took the battery and the tray out. much easier RE: Clutch Problem - Connor - 26-06-2012 Taking the seat out to do a clutch cable?! Are you on crack?! You only need to jack the car up to get under it lol RE: Clutch Problem - Eeyore - 26-06-2012 (26-06-2012, 12:38 AM)Connor Wrote: Taking the seat out to do a clutch cable?! Are you on crack?! So you can lie down in the car instead of snapping your back in half trying to do it from outside the car! RE: Clutch Problem - strictly_perv - 26-06-2012 I remember helping with a mates HDI estate and the air con pipes where right in front of where the cable goes into the car, was a right PITA. RE: Clutch Problem - samass - 27-06-2012 What Max said. aircon pipes are a bitch to get past. I think niall wrote up a guide... Gimme a mo http://306oc.co.uk/forum/thread-844.html there ya go. thing to note, DO NOT TAKE THE RETAINING CLIP OFF THE AUTO ADJUSTER it will make your life a living hell, and yes, i talk from experience RE: Clutch Problem - strictly_perv - 27-06-2012 I think my mate ended up cutting them out the way as the air-con didn't work anyway.
