For the people who have ground their LDA pin, what did you use to do it? Dremel type tool? Hmm

Re: May be an obvious question, buuut.. - Toby - 07-06-2012

I used a Dan! tool.

/troll.

Me too, but my Dan! tool is broken for 6 weeks

It's okay, the Dan! tool is made by Snap-On so has a lifetime warranty.

I used a bench grinder lol and finished off with a dremel and sand paper.

Really?! Surely the bench grinder was way too big? I really need to grind mine once the boost leak has been sorted..

Well it's a pretty hefty grind.....

Am I right in saying your pin is from a rover? You're right about it being hefty though, that looks really weak in the middle!

Re: May be an obvious question, buuut.. - strictly_perv - 07-06-2012

Yep got it from a Rover. All the cars at the local scrappy have missing LDA pins now haha.
It does look weak but I doubt it will break and it's no biggie if it does TBH.

Re: May be an obvious question, buuut.. - Ricky - 07-06-2012

May invest in a dremel and get mine done.

Re: May be an obvious question, buuut.. - strictly_perv - 07-06-2012

Well worth doing, with this pin I've had to turn the fuel screw down nearly a full turn to clear the smoke at 26/7psi!

Your doing it all wrong then, your not supposed to turn anything down.............ever, too much smoke mean that you need more boost................not less fuel, that is backwards progress Tongue

Re: May be an obvious question, buuut.. - Ricky - 07-06-2012

Well because of my boost leak I was getting a load of smoke, so I am currently running with the pin at its steepest and its soo slow! But I was surprised at how much difference the pin alone can make, so can't wait to get it sorted.

That is usually my philosophy but the wastegate spring must be weak and wont budge past 27psi.... the K04 will be my new boost producer soon though, no wastegate on that whistle

Fail post Wink

He knows this, he is already on it with the K04 + welded wastegate, just needs to actually fit it to the bloody car  lmao

You know it Mark

Re: May be an obvious question, buuut.. - Dave - 08-06-2012

Make sure its smooth though! else it'll wear down the pin over time and slowly you'll loose the variation of your on/off boost...
