Really? Did you have the chip on the key though?

Fitting an ecu. - Matt - 23-12-2011

And what about the old ecu? When you take that off did that stay unlocked?

Re: Fitting an ecu. - taylonm - 23-12-2011

Chip in the key becomes pointless when the imob is deleted.
As for the old one it worked fine as soon as you plug it back in, no locking and and locking business.

Re: Fitting an ecu. - Matt - 23-12-2011

So T just to confirm

Engine off
Remove current ecu( which will be locked to my car anyway?)
Fit new one
Start?

Re: Fitting an ecu. - taylonm - 23-12-2011

Absolutely Correct, no problems at all!

Fitting an ecu. - Matt - 23-12-2011

Okay mate, I'll give it ago later Smile

Re: Fitting an ecu. - Ruan - 24-12-2011

Hmmm... Hopefully yours is a Bosch Motronic, not one of teh gayboy Sagems they put in some 1.8XSs and XSis..

Re: Fitting an ecu. - stevieg - 25-12-2011

i can confirm what taylon has said. the ecu you have was unlocked professionally.

The sagem is shite. I wonder if it would be possible to fit a gti Bosch once both manifolds with injectors are on.

Actually nah. Get a Omex Smile

Head is different sadly, it'd overfuel like hell - i.e. 167hps worth of fuel into 136hp (or near...) worth of air...

Re: Fitting an ecu. - Fooby - 25-12-2011

i can forsee this going chronically wrong and his car exploding in a ball of flames and cheese

Fooby Wrote:i can forsee this going chronically wrong and his car exploding in a ball of flames and cheese
Then he would have to get a 6!

Yeah I did think about this. It's not really good to be thinking about these things when you have been drinking since half 8 in the morning!

Re: Fitting an ecu. - Midnightclub - 26-12-2011

Video proof needed Tongue

Fitting an ecu. - Matt - 26-12-2011

Will get one Wednesday when family isn't here/not working lol. Haven't noticed much performance gain just lots of noise lol

Re: Fitting an ecu. - Niall - 26-12-2011

Don't forget Matt it will take some time for it to settle in. Keep an eye on your fuel economy and how it runs over the next few weeks.

Re: Fitting an ecu. - Connor - 26-12-2011

About time you fitted it, thought you were going to triple check the procedure again...

Fitting an ecu. - Matt - 26-12-2011

Niall I keep booting it atm so fuel is going quick but no quicker than usual at the moment lol and Conner I was going to triple check haha
Just don't like messing with ecu's haha

i would never have guessed Big Grin

Re: Fitting an ecu. - Matt - 26-12-2011

Haha didn't want to lock both and end up with a car that doesnt run

Re: Fitting an ecu. - stevieg - 26-12-2011

they aren't as fragile as you would think. the only ways you can blow ecus is by shorting them across the battery, shorting wires or by over volting them (24v starts). just swapping them over won't hurt them Smile

Fitting an ecu. - Matt - 26-12-2011

Fair enough. Either way this ecu has made a differene in noise Smile hopefully will see a few more gains when ive done a couple of mods Smile

Re: Fitting an ecu. - Connor - 27-12-2011

What's it off? Had anything done to it?

Fitting an ecu. - Matt - 27-12-2011

It's an xsi ecu thats been remapped. I bought it from Ohara and me got it from Taylon. I'm not sure of the map it's got as yet, will have to get it on the dyno Smile

Re: Fitting an ecu. - Connor - 27-12-2011

Ahhh hairy muff then, can't wait to hear it in the tunnel

Fitting an ecu. - Matt - 27-12-2011

Me too. It's porno now haha

Re: Fitting an ecu. - 4WayDiablo - 27-12-2011

it rivaled tachas for volume on the way to ace
