XU gearboxes - ginge191 - 06-06-2012 Ok, so currently out having a coffee after a nice bash round the island, and my knowledgable friend is convinced if I was able to bolt on an alternative gearbox with longer ratios I could extend the power through the ranges. I'm convinced the XUD won't be up to the test and run out of puff. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Compatability, usefulness etc.. Re: XU gearboxes - Chris - 06-06-2012 The hdi box is the longest, the petrol boxes are a lot shorter due to revs. The 6 box is doing 3.5/4k at 70 in 6th where as a hdi box is doing sub 2.5k. Re: XU gearboxes - ginge191 - 06-06-2012 And is that just a bolt on jobby or does it require hdi clutch/flywheel? Re: XU gearboxes - Anton - 06-06-2012 Just change the fork arm. Why do you want to do this? Thought it was a b road basher..... Re: XU gearboxes - samass - 06-06-2012 sounds like a good idea minge, she sure jumps up the tacho! deffo need a bit of a longer second, be able to get more power down then Re: XU gearboxes - ginge191 - 06-06-2012 Anton Wrote:Just change the fork arm. It is, it's not necessarily for power, but to get more out of the gearbox, 2nd and 3rd seeming very limited, as you can guess, I don't really get into/out of 4th. Cheers for the info aswell ![]() Edit: and yeh, as Sam says, it is pokey, but I'm sure even he noticed the shortness of the gears.. |
