Tracking Issue GTi6 - gti6man - 12-12-2018

So I had my tracking adjusted yesterday, I know the rear beam needs a rebuild looking at this, no idea how they managed to get different rear left readings each time as it's not adjustable?

But I want to know what might have caused the left front camber to be out, should this have been adjusted to get within limits or is a part deformed?

I questioned this at the time and they said it was not adjustable but adjusting the toe brought it closer... that doesn't sound quite right?

Any help would be much appreciated.

hmmm not exactly sure how adjusting the toe would adjust camber....

the rear left could change if the beam is broken, in both camber and toe depending on how the wheel is sitting at the time.

That doesn't sound good, I might get it up and give the rear wheel a pull and see if there is movement?

I'm not sure I trust these readings to be honest

Because of induced camber due to castor - go look at the angle of the strut of any car and I'll bet you any money it's not exactly vertical. Thus when you turn the wheel, the camber is affected.

Ah okay so you think when they adjusted the toe (turned the wheel) that changed the camber of the wheel due to the caster of the strut?

Probably yes, hunter alignment machines are a garage's wet dream, they're super accurate and they can spit out numbers that can look really nasty, but realistically, everything is rubber mounted etc. The numbers it spits out can be affected simply by whether you hit a bump in the road on the drive to the workshop. You could probably fix that by undoing the top strut bolts and giving the assembly a wiggle if you're super worried, but honestly, I wouldn't worry for the sake of 1 degree!
