x reg bsi pin out - madmadmax - 13-09-2018

hi guys i need a pin out for an 2000 year hdi, bsi both plugs and a list of readings to be found on the pins.

hope i can get something other than the haynes manual

RE: x reg bsi pin out - welshpug - 18-09-2018

there's no bsi so that'll be why you can't find a pinout.

people call the alarm ecu/transponder box in a 306 a bsi for some reason, it looks nothing like a bsi found in other psa vehicles.

RE: x reg bsi pin out - pug306driver - 18-09-2018

Where would it be located, under the gear stick area ?

RE: x reg bsi pin out - cully - 18-09-2018

security module is in the lower dash behind the hazard switches ect

what info do you want with the pin out?

RE: x reg bsi pin out - pug306driver - 21-09-2018

What i would really like to do is to knobble the central locking and disable the immobiliser to avoid all the real hassle with the central locking the car is going thru at the moment, the dam thing is even dead locking us in the car which could be really dangerous for us !

I realise that this info may be of use to the car thieving scum out there so a PM would be advisable ?

All help greatly appreciated.

RE: x reg bsi pin out - welshpug - 21-09-2018

if you have issues with the CL just don't lock it...

RE: x reg bsi pin out - cully - 21-09-2018

try soft unlocking the ecu!
try starting the car and then unplugging the security unit both plugs see if this "soft unlocks" the ecu it will also disable the RF/central locking
if it fails you can always plug it back in

the other option would be to just unplug the central locking plug on the security unit

RE: x reg bsi pin out - pug306driver - 22-09-2018

don't know what a soft unlocking means.......

also what colour would the central locking plug be on the security unit please ?

thanks cully.

When you put your key in the ignition the immobiliser checks that the correct transponder is present in the key.  If it sees the transponder it sends a message to the ECU telling it that it's OK to start the car.

Soft unlocking occurs (as Cully said) when you unplug the ECU while the car is running. The ECU will then remain in an 'it's OK to start the car' condition until it is once again able to communicate with the immobiliser.  So to maintain the unlocked state you need to unplug the immobiliser/security unit before you try to start the car again and leave it unplugged.  i.e. your car is now without an immobiliser but if that's the cause of your no start issues you may be happy to live with it that way.

I've heard of people soft unlocking petrol models but not sure about the HDi's.  Am sure someone can confirm.

A hard unlock stops the ECU from trying to communicate with the immobiliser even when one is present/plugged in.  A hard unlock is usually done by specialist ECU diagnosis/repair companies.  The advantage is that the ECU can be used in any vehicle of the same model, even one with it's immobiliser unit still in place.  (The hard unlocked ECU doesn't seek a security code from the immobiliser, let alone the one it was originally paired with).  Take a soft unlocked ECU and plug it in to a different vehicle with its immobiliser unit in place and you're in trouble!

Unplug the combined central locking and immobiliser after doing a soft unlock (assuming you can soft unlock an HDi ECU).  Only issue is you might not have a keyed lock for the boot.  (Some of them are CL only).  If that's the case you'd need to rig up a switch inside the car to operate the boot lock, with a fuse in the circuit.  You may also need to wire a relay in to the new circuit.

The info supplied to date wouldn't help car thieves.  They'd need the key and the car already running to do a soft unlock anyway.
