Roof Rack Bolts - RetroPug - 25-08-2018

Hi,

Does anyone know or can look up the size of the bolts which fix the genuine roof rack to a ph.1 3dr? I'd imagine they're the same for all roof racks but still. I did have the bolts but they've escaped the tape that held them to the rack in storage...

Thanks

you may be able to get a set from your local pug dealer.
I have a 5-dr, and I leave my screws in their holes under the rubbers.

I'll try them at some point.
They are just fasteners though so could easily just go to the locak fixings store if I knew what size.

Perhaps if they cannot supply Peugeot would be able to tell me.

As I've never had a roof rack on the car I'm not entirely certain which bolts you're talking about.  Could they be the M6 x 1 x 12mm ones in the schematic below?

Hi,

Those are the ones, and the mounting holes aren't deep so that sounds about right.

Thanks a lot!

all I can add, is Metric - Fine - short - button head.

Have found this quite a good place to source fixings of the right size ...... https://www.westfieldfasteners.co.uk/ScrewBolt_M.html

Thanks both, the head shouldn't matter too much as it goes onto the baseplate.

I've got an old-school local fixing shop near me that are decent. If you just want one washer/nut/bolt they normally give it to you for free if you're local and they think you might give them more business. I'll try them next time I'm passing.

Definitely get the button head and make sure that the thread on the roof is clear. Ive got one stuck half way before which meant i couldnt close the door :/

agreed! a fine-pitch tap should clear the threads of paint & corrosion.
follow with a good dollop of copper grease before using.

They're nice and as clean as they left the factory! They still had the original tape over them until very recently. I have only test fitted the rack with the bolts once, I've since lost the bolts.

The car also spends the majority of the time it isn't in use indoors these days as well.

Good point about shutting the doors, I'll check.
