RE: Nialls GTi6 - Niall - 17-11-2012

Yeah Chris they are. 3door 306s are side mount on the outside so needs a few bits making up!

RE: Nialls GTi6 - cwspellowe - 17-11-2012

You know for a fact i'd just drill the floor and fit massive penny washers...

RE: Nialls GTi6 - Niall - 17-11-2012

No. Last time someone made a big hole in the floor pan of my car, I had to scrap the bastard for being rotten!

Nah it's not much work at all to get them fitted now I've worked out how I want to do it. Will do a guide once there in and I'm happy they won't flop about all over the place!

RE: Nialls GTi6 - cwspellowe - 17-11-2012

lmao you underestimate my bodgyness. Silicone sealant ftw.

RE: Nialls GTi6 - Matt - 17-11-2012

Silicon and Hammerite job done

BTW top tip for the torsion bars.. they're the right length but need a bit of persuasion with a BFH to get them in, splines seem a little tight on the arms

I thought the splines looked a bit wide, its gonna be a pain in the arse adjusting the height then!

Not really, just prep the arms properly. You wouldn't fit shiny new pistons to a rusty engine block.

My bars still pull out fine, just rather snug. Keep them greased up and they'll be fine.

RE: Nialls GTi6 - Niall - 18-11-2012

got my passenger seat in. Oh god its comfy!! Got sam to do a bit of welding for me this morning. Only issue is i couldnt get hold of any angle steel today so had to use some ally down the side on the sill. Its still nice and secure but flexes slightly when you sit in it. Going to replace with some 4mm angle steel and jobs a goodun!

Funny thing is, even with the ally, its still more secure than the original seat lol.

also, got various bits done today but main being sams win pipe on his NAD

busy few evenings ahead. got to fit my original doors so the colour matches, fit a new rear bumper and get my drivers seat in! oh and fit a set of torsion bars but i might end up doing that at the christmas meet lol

no. it might be loud but not grant spec!

RE: Nialls GTi6 - samass - 18-11-2012

shame. needs more boost. ninja

RE: Nialls GTi6 - Matt - 18-11-2012

Looks good. Look like they really make use of the space Smile how heavy are they in comparison to the standard seats?

RE: Nialls GTi6 - Niall - 18-11-2012

there a bit lighter than the standard seats. There is a 2-3 inch gap down each side. inner side im not fussed about once ive hidden the cable for the pre tensioner (its bright orange!) but the other side i might try and cut up the original plastic trim to fit on

RE: Nialls GTi6 - Matt - 18-11-2012

Ohh sweet. Should see my gap, between the two buckets there is about 7/8inch haha.

RE: Nialls GTi6 - kernow_joe - 18-11-2012

nice job on the seats, hows the carpc coming on?

you got any idea on what you're going to be running on the pi, been thinking about it for a while, you reckon be able to get live data from ecu? was one of my ideas, would be pretty cool

RE: Nialls GTi6 - Niall - 18-11-2012

wrecked the RPi today Sad was tidying up the shed and dropped it. screen is fine but ive torn the ribbon cable to the touch screen element so no touch on it. project will be back on the go when ive got a spare 150 quid for a new screen Sad

RE: Nialls GTi6 - Matt - 18-11-2012

Really? Man that sucks. £150 for a new screen? No way you can repair the current?

RE: Nialls GTi6 - Poodle - 19-11-2012

Surely someone could repair that cable for you dude, isn't Cully pretty awesome with electrixicals?

Nialls GTi6 - Jonny b - 19-11-2012

jonny i dont think theres much you can do. its a ribbon cable thats almost been made into the touch overlay. one of the orange ones (not sure on the actual name!)
If you dont mind, ill bring it to the christmas meet. if you can do something, great...if not, no worries Smile

RE: Nialls GTi6 - Niall - 22-11-2012

Well ive spent 3 hours tonight making the most simple of mounts for my drivers seat. difficult when you dont own a vice, decent hacksaw blades or a drill without a bent chuck!

[Image: DFCBFA0A-6054-4C1F-BD72-49A9A03DB155-117...010679.jpg]

either way its done. hopefully will be going in at the weekend along with my new torsion bars but am on call so might not get a chance Sad
anyone want to do it for me?

Nialls GTi6 - ash240970 - 23-11-2012

Niall, I still have that vice but because I still don't know if I'm coming to the crimbo meet or not and Samass gets up to Birmingham fairly often, if you can persuade him to make a slight detour and grab it(he owes me a favour or 2 as he forgot to pay me for the maccy D's when he had his beam changed lol) it'll help you out no end.

RE: Nialls GTi6 - Niall - 23-11-2012

Andy is anyone near you going to the Christmas meet?

RE: Nialls GTi6 - Matt - 23-11-2012

You not done it yet?
