Yea, a new dipstick from Peugeot would be the easiest option.

Also I wonder if your model has an oil level gauge built in to the dash? On mine (phase 2) it's integrated in to the tacho. It will display oil level if you switch the ignition to its second position but don't start the car.

If you post a pic of your dash instruments we'll be able to tell you if you have one.

HI, thanks for the replies....a new dip stick would be the best option....a litle difficult to get one on a sunday and i have to make a trip today !!!

I will also check the dash to see what oil indicator there is...

Indeed there is an oil dial on the dash...it moves up when the ignition is in its second position and then drops back when the engine is started, is that how it should be ?

yes show oil level for around 10 seconds then turns off or turns into oil temp gauge depending on trim spec of the car
