Re: Sam rallye based track project !! - Dum-Dum - 01-06-2012 I think it was rippthrough that was explaining that the safest thing in a crash is to have the upper straps horizontal so it looks like your rear upper mounting would just about give you that. I had the issue that my buckets were so low that nothing would come close to letting me mount them horizontal on the 4 point belts Re: Sam rallye based track project !! - 7057sam - 02-06-2012 Dum-Dum Wrote:I think it was rippthrough that was explaining that the safest thing in a crash is to have the upper straps horizontal so it looks like your rear upper mounting would just about give you that. Ok thanks guys ,how would you suggested i mount the harness for the time being?. Re: Sam rallye based track project !! - Dum-Dum - 02-06-2012 The bolt hole that was the upper rear seat belt mounting on the C pillar is the only other option. Youd have to crash pretty hard for it to be an issue tbh, like bending the chassis hard. Re: Sam rallye based track project !! - jammapic - 05-06-2012 I beg to differ Dum... A crash of any sort will decelerate your body REALLY quickly. All the force pushing against the harnesses (and therefore them pushing back on you to slow you down) will cause the harnesses to work about the pivot point (your shoulders) and push them down, i.e bending / compressing your spine. The only real safe way to have the harnesses fastened is at a height which is equal to, or within a few degrees of your shoulder height. There are many articles on the net that say angles of no more than 30* are ok, but for me it has to be pretty damn near level to feel safe. Thus: JP Re: Sam rallye based track project !! - Eeyore - 05-06-2012 Looks good mate. Really like the car and sounds epic! Ill be looking for a 90 degree silicone joint now ive seen how your filter is set up! My filter is currently straight onto the manifold and rubs on the radiator pipes so gets a tonne of heat soak! Sam rallye based track project !! - Icywalts - 06-06-2012 Hey how have u found those coilovers because they are literally being fit to ma car tonight as happens? Re: Sam rallye based track project !! - jammapic - 06-06-2012 I used to have them... Really hard and only about 1.5in of suspension travel, and kept coilbinding the springs. Ended up buying a set of avos. Sam rallye based track project !! - Icywalts - 06-06-2012 Coilbinding the spring?? Sorry what's that I haven't run coils before... Re: Sam rallye based track project !! - Rippthrough - 06-06-2012 The spring runs out of travel and all the coils whallop into each other with a lovely thump that goes right through the chassis + momentary loss of grip. And fatigues the spring to boot. Sam rallye based track project !! - Icywalts - 06-06-2012 So run them for a few months and maybe get Some v-maxx??? So might I have a problem at the front and back? Or with they run ok for a while?? Re: Sam rallye based track project !! - jammapic - 06-06-2012 Front... I ran them for a while and got sick of the appauling handling, even with uprated springs!!! JP Re: Sam rallye based track project !! - 7057sam - 06-06-2012 Yeah the coilover are plenty hard,I am in the process of booking a track day at snetterton so be able to test them out. Also got a TRS tow strap, fitting it friday hopefully Had a go with carbon fibre wrap thought it was quite good first attempt RE: Sam rallye based track project !! - Matt - 12-07-2012 Anything recent with this? Good find mate RE: Sam rallye based track project !! - 7057sam - 22-08-2012 Cheers mate, its a double edged sword especially when you have rent and stuff to pay for and end spending 90 percent of you disposable earning on mod and stuff. But then again I do kinda 'live for the 306' haha |
