The ultimate 8v Injector thread. - Uberderv - 17-11-2017

Due to the recent activity regarding injectors/nozzles etc... thought it would be good to open up a thread to discuss options, experience etc...

So, a long time ago I got quotes off an American company to extrude hone the nozzles. They were confident they could do it but once import tax etc... was added it was too expensive especially for a northerner like me.

So much research later and the outcome was that a certain Alfa Jtd nozzle was a good upgrade (part number to come).

With talk of Cummins nozzles and needle lift it would be good to get our heads together for some solid info on available upgrades. I'm hoping this might lead on to the Ultimate HP fuel pump thread Smile

essentially the only half decent uprated ones apart from custom jobbies seem to be jtd nozzles. the plane angle is funny on the hdi, this is a reason why people are starting to put 16v heads on. I dont a lot of research when i did the mtdi ages ago before i promptly bent a rod in it. injectors are a hard thing to find information on.

Combine JTD nozzles and this needle lift mod could equal muchos flow. What about JTD bodies? From what I've read they flow more than HDI bodies so maybe JTD injectors with needle mod....

A lot of the issue is finding somebody to do the work - none of the specialists near me will touch it, whether they're not willing or not able is unclear, but irrelevant i suppose.

16v Head ... /Thread

JTD nozzles are great, but take a look at the angle of rotation they mount at in the JTD... Nobody yet (afaik) has looked at the angle of the locating lugs and mounting bush in an 8v HDi which could make them as bad or worse than the Eurocargo ones.

Unless you make some sort of adapter to mount the JTD bodies and nozzles at the correct angle - which I have seen someone do, but by that time, you might as well have modified the stock 8v injectors.

When people refer to the bodies, the main portion of that is in reference to the needle lift.

Good point Ruan, I will try and find out. The only person I know who has tested them is TB206 who appeared to be impressed. I also saw Diesel Bob was selling higher flowing nozzles which I assume are the same.

interesting thread... but someone can tell what mod is "needle lift mod"? its secret information?
im using eurocargo-cummins nozzles and makes much white smoke on iddle (bad combustion)   Dodgy  tryed to solve making 200changes on soi but no luck. (now i know whats the problem)

Deffinatley have my attention in this thread. Was speaking to hdi tuning about the cummins nozzles mounted to stock injectors.
Seemed to think it was viable as long as the nozzles wernt back street fitted and done properly with testing biggest let down was that hes no longer opperating in the uk tho Sad so all mapping would have had to taken place through live data on a dyno sent to him.

About a year ago dervtech posted on fb about being able to supply larger injectors but after getting scared of the pricetag (1200 including mapping) i failed to follow up and ask for more details

From what I've read the Cummins nozzles ain't the best, and £1200 for JP's nozzle/map combo seems reet expensive unless they are extrude honed nozzles.

As for the mapping, best get learning so you can do your own Smile

I wish! Not clued up with computers at all so mapping would just be a massive can if worms for me
