Difference between these clutch kits? - Ben - 11-06-2017

Hi all,

I need to try and get a clutch kit ordered tonight while euros have their weekend offer on. Does anyone know the difference between the two valeo clutch kits on this page?

Thanks, Ben

Hi Ben.  That link doesn't seem to work.  Can you include 2 separate links to the specific page for each clutch kit?

I'm tempted to just assume the pictures are correct and ones actually a Sachs one, rather than there being two different types of valeo

whats it for?

is that really how much ecp charge for pug clutch kits?! I'd imagine a dealer is cheaper!!

RE: Difference between these clutch kits? - Ben - 11-06-2017

It's for the rallye. With the discount it's £112 which I thought seemed about right..

Full price Valeo from GSF is £145 but try BEE54 to get 54% off that price (valid until tomorrow).

Difficult to tell the difference between the kits on ECP as those are their own part refs, not the Valeo ones.

Thanks for the replies, I'd already gone for the one with valeo in the picture, however I've just checked gsf and it's in stock so I've got it for £66, will cancel the ecp order. Thanks very much!

When you do your clutch will you be replacing the fork bushes?

If you are make sure you get the new style ones and the seals.
Part numbers
217 554 top bush
217 555 bottom bush
217 556 seal

These stop water sitting in the bottom bush and causing the metal to rust and then eat the bushes with them being so rough.

I am yes as I can feel play in the arm. I ordered the bushes today but I'll ring tomorrow and see if I can change to those ones. Hopefully the arm isn't to worn already. Thanks for letting me know.

I changed the arm on my Dturbo this weekend and bought one that's been zinc plated so shouldn't rust so quick.

The new style bushes and seals installed.

My old '6 arm, I should have replaced it but I couldn't wait wait for a replacement at the time.

I cleaned it up the best I could and stuck some silicone grease on the bushes to help lubricate them.

RE: Difference between these clutch kits? - Ben - 13-06-2017

Surprised there's a seal on the top as well, can't see how water could sit in that one. I won't have time to wait for a new one either but I'll clean it up and could probably use some belzona at work if it's really bad.

RE: Difference between these clutch kits? - DeeTurbo - 13-06-2017

In service box it shows only the one seal for the bottom but the top bush has the lip to take one so thought I'd stick one on to keep the clutch dust out but no doubt it might cause issue with trapping water there instead lol

RE: Difference between these clutch kits? - Ben - 13-06-2017

I'll have to check service box out, heard it mentioned a lot but not used it before. I'm sure it'll be OK, and if your old fork was around 15 years old your new one will last yonks anyway!
