What size TB's and ARB? - Chris HDI - 21-05-2017 As the title says I'm curious as to what sizes people are running in their rear beam and where they've acquired the larger sizes from as they are quite pricey from pug1off. Also is there anyone on here that does custom beam builds? Thanks! RE: What size TB's and ARB? - welshpug - 21-05-2017 there's a few of us doing beams, what are you using the car for? that'll give you an indication of the size if bar required. 21mm is readily available from estates or xsaras, (standard is 20mm) pts spec for tarmac was 23mm. dont forget that the bigger the bars and the harder you work them the more you need to spend on dampers. RE: What size TB's and ARB? - Chris HDI - 21-05-2017 The car gets used a lot on B roads but also I'd like to do a few track days with the car. RE: What size TB's and ARB? - welshpug - 21-05-2017 Probably best at 21mm then with the standard 24mm arb. if it was pure track id go bigger arb RE: What size TB's and ARB? - cully - 21-05-2017 I have 21mm TB on a std ARB it transformed the handling on my car which is mainly used on the road and the odd trackday ![]() sourced them from Stef205 on here who also fitted them and raised the car from being an arse dragger RE: What size TB's and ARB? - Stef205 - 21-05-2017 Ive fitted various sizes to peoples over the years, from standard 20's upto 23' and 24's but most go for the common 21's out of a xsara beam. Arb's again ive fitted from 24mm upto 32mm all depends on the planned use, but as said bigger bars will require hard and more expensive shocks to cope. RE: What size TB's and ARB? - Chris HDI - 21-05-2017 Thanks for the advice, who on here does beam rebuilds and how much? I'll keep Stef in mind RE: What size TB's and ARB? - zx_volcane - 22-05-2017 running 21mm tb and 24mm arb - perfect for fast rd imo RE: What size TB's and ARB? - Chris HDI - 22-05-2017 (22-05-2017, 11:36 AM)zx_volcane Wrote: running 21mm tb and 24mm arb - perfect for fast rd imo Thanks for the opinion, it seems to be the route to go. Might sound silly but does a Xsara VTS beam bolt straight onto a GTi 6? or is it a case of just getting the TB's out of the VTS beam and getting someone to rebuild he 306 beam? RE: What size TB's and ARB? - welshpug - 22-05-2017 beam will go straight on, same floorpan. camber and toe are quite different though most wont noticed it. trouble is with 100% of the beams out there, they're all worn out unless they have receipts for a rebuild by someone reputable. RE: What size TB's and ARB? - Chris HDI - 22-05-2017 Thanks Welshpug, think I'll just acquire some VTS TB's and get a 306 beam rebuilt, I don't want to mess about with different toe and camber, I know people have machined in negative camber to the arms which is something I may look into in the future. RE: What size TB's and ARB? - bashbarnard - 23-05-2017 if youre gonna find some VTS bars also look at late 306 estates as they have 21mm torsion bars on that are the same RE: What size TB's and ARB? - gti6man - 23-05-2017 I have a complete VTS beam and dampers, transformed the handling! Although my old beam was pretty knackered... RE: What size TB's and ARB? - RetroPug - 23-05-2017 If you're looking on the Peugeot/Citroen performance parts/tuner websites just take whatever their sales blurbs on suspension parts are with a pinch of salt. Case in point, exhibit A from a well-known french car performance parts seller and tuner describing a thicker rear ARB: Quote:"It improves turn-in noticeably whilst reducing roll-induced oversteer which is infamous for many a 306's spinning and/or being written off." RE: What size TB's and ARB? - Chris HDI - 24-05-2017 I appreciate all the advice lads! |
