sunroof front drain tubes - daddyfixit - 11-03-2017 found out that the osf footwell is wet... water drips off interior sunroof switches so cassette is like a swimming pool up there sunroof front drains are deffo blocked (had airline down the tubes at sunroof attachment) and I need to find out were they exit the body. I have had arch liners off but no pipes to be seen on inner wing or door jamb area. I took a-pillar trim off to see the pipe and it heads towards dash so I imagined it would appear in the scuttle behind the wiper motor................it doesn't. has anybody ever seen were they drain into ??? RE: sunroo front drain tubes - welshpug - 11-03-2017 they drain into the sills iirc. I don't think water will get from the sunroof frame into the switches though, that's more likely to be the aerial. RE: sunroo front drain tubes - Seb_Ryan - 11-03-2017 As above.. Bit of silicone under ariel base and it sorted it Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk RE: sunroo front drain tubes - daddyfixit - 12-03-2017 done it already; if I park car in work pointing uphill, no problem park on the flat or pointing downhill......soon as I move off water starts dripping through switches, and going around corners can be a mini-shower ! so the water is trapped at front of sunroof cassette unable to drain away............... I have had an airline down them but blocked solid. RE: sunroof front drain tubes - welshpug - 12-03-2017 get some stiff wire and clear them. RE: sunroof front drain tubes - daddyfixit - 13-03-2017 tried coat hangar but was wary of puncturing tubes, that's why I went for trying to clear with an airline. just need somebody to say were the tubes end up... RE: sunroof front drain tubes - welshpug - 13-03-2017 not in the cabin. RE: sunroof front drain tubes - daddyfixit - 18-03-2017 had a go at it again today; took it mates garage, dropped roof on both sides and blasted drains clear !!!! siliconed the aerial even though it was dry as I was near it anyway............drove home in the rain and got fkin soaked..... water is getting in between roof and the roof cassette on drivers side and running out the front of the headlining.....when I clearing the pipes I have broken the seal.....copious amounts of seam sealer on the corner of roof/cassette gasket and see what its like in the morning. RE: sunroof front drain tubes - daddyfixit - 19-03-2017 b@st@rd thing still leaks...........its coming in through the screen !!!!!! had hosepipe on it for ages then suddenly it started dripping (roof lining down) off lining onto steering wheel....looks as though theres a way in were screen is bonded to body (old-age ??) so I dried car off and ran a bead of pu sealer along top of screen were rubber trim meets body. and its forecast heavy rain for 3 days up here...........it will either have worked or I will vinyl wrap the entire roof !!!! RE: sunroof front drain tubes - RetroPug - 19-03-2017 I would remove the headlining, which will hopefully make it easier to figure out where it is coming from. RE: sunroof front drain tubes - daddyfixit - 01-04-2017 headlining is out....sunroof cassette has been out; foam seal------roof to cassette is fooked....got some 10mm draught proofing tape to replace entire perimeter of cassette... its still leaking..comes out at osf roof seams, water must be getting out of cassette--into roof reinforcement and running forwards when I brake. now I'm on ebay looking for a 1.9 partner quicksilver..... |
