Gearbox have I fitted it correctly - Dantheman1312 - 24-09-2016

How can I check I have fitted my gearbox correctly. I tried to line the forks up behind a baring with 2 bits as shown in the pic. How do I know it hasn't moved during assembly

Thanks

There is usually a plastic cover on the top of the gearbox that goes against the bell housing. Pop that out and have a look to see if you can see it. Also try turning the clutch fork as you can feel if the fork has gone into the bits in the bearing. It can be a bit of a sod though.

What will the fork feel like if it has located properly? It seems to be solid with a tiny amount of play

If the engine/box is still in the car just put the clutch cable back on and try it. You won't be able to move it by hand. When it's not in ir can feel like it is...that was not a good day. Dodgy
