Paul's 330i - Paul_13 - 11-09-2016 Picked my new car Saturday , big thanks to Greig for the lift . Bmw e46 330i touring in manual! Seemingly in good condition, going to reseal the dual vanos and do a service. Drilled a few holes in the air box to free it up a bit, standard air intake ducts are tiny Going to sack off the clutch delay valve and look at either an auto differential or incorporating a 325i diff iinternals into mine, or a M3 diff/subframe etc Did the "golf tee" mod for a laugh and the exhaust sounds mental RE: Paul's 330i - Eeyore - 11-09-2016 What does the golf tee mod involve? Any pictures? RE: Paul's 330i - Paul_13 - 11-09-2016 Blanking off the vac line feeding the actuator flap in the back box, so both exhaust pipes are open RE: Paul's 330i - Eeyore - 11-09-2016 Noice. Get a video! RE: Paul's 330i - Dum-Dum - 12-09-2016 Needz moar piktorz!!!! Exhaust mod sounds awesome for a free mod. RE: Paul's 330i - Midnightclub - 12-09-2016 Literally the best free mod on these haha. Vanos seals is a good shout, can recommend a good company that are UK based if you haven't looked into it yet, makes a huge difference to general driveability. And yeah more pictures needed RE: Paul's 330i - Paul_13 - 12-09-2016 Happy doing the seals myself but yes impressed so far and I'll get some pics RE: Paul's 330i - Midnightclub - 12-09-2016 Yeah i just meant a company who sell the upgraded seals. X8r. Did my seals not too long ago myself using one of their kits, not too bad to do RE: Paul's 330i - Paul_13 - 13-09-2016 Ah gotcha , I'll give them a research RE: Paul's 330i - Paul_13 - 24-09-2016 Changed the plugs earlier, hopefully liven it up a bit Stripping the 306 tomorrow RE: Paul's 330i - Paul_13 - 25-09-2016 Pesky clutch delay valve removed RE: Paul's 330i - Toms306 - 25-09-2016 Where are the pics of the car!? RE: Paul's 330i - Paul_13 - 25-09-2016 Be patient Tom ffs RE: Paul's 330i - Eeyore - 25-09-2016 its been a hour? where are the pics? RE: Paul's 330i - Paul_13 - 30-09-2016 Vanos seal kit /rattle rings on order RE: Paul's 330i - Paul_13 - 02-10-2016 Did the vanos seals on it today, pretty easy to work on Haven't taken it for a drive yet. Needs a new expansion tank and oil change RE: Paul's 330i - Midnightclub - 03-10-2016 Nicely done. Personally find these quite easy to work on too, don't understand why some people say they're such a pig. The seals take about 300 miles of driving to break in fully, it would also be worth resetting the engine adaptions too for maximum effect. After getting a 'cheaper' expansion tank it lasted about 3 months before splitting again.. went for a HELLA/BEHR one in the end which is much much better quality. RE: Paul's 330i - welshpug - 03-10-2016 do the pas pump on and thermostat on a 318 then have a think about how eay they are mostly not too bad though. RE: Paul's 330i - Midnightclub - 03-10-2016 Lucky enough I only need to work on mine/other halfs cars haha. Is it not similar to the 6 cylinder where everything's up front? I just find that although yes stuff needs to be moved out of the way for access, it's just very well thought out. For instance, removing the rad fan setup on my car is 1 plastic pin clip and a single torx screw and the entire fan unit and shroud comes out in one. RE: Paul's 330i - welshpug - 03-10-2016 no, the gearbox is in the same place so instead of 1/3rd of the engine being under the scuttle, half of it is RE: Paul's 330i - Paul_13 - 03-10-2016 What do you mean by engine adaptions midnightclub? RE: Paul's 330i - Midnightclub - 03-10-2016 As you drive over time (potentially years depending on when it was last reset) the car 'learns' how it's driven and stores this in the ECU. Always change this every time something major is changed so it recalibrates to how it is now. You can do it manually, I think it's like turn ign on, hold throttle to floor on/ff like 3 times and then ign off - search to see if that's right though. Or you can reset it using INPA (if you don't have this then it's probably the best £30 ever spent) RE: Paul's 330i - Paul_13 - 05-10-2016 RE: Paul's 330i - Midnightclub - 06-10-2016 How much and where from mate? Need one of these myself RE: Paul's 330i - Dum-Dum - 06-10-2016 What is it though? RE: Paul's 330i - Midnightclub - 06-10-2016 Known as a steering guibo, they're made of rubber when OEM and over the years wear giving you 'sloppy' steering around the centre of the wheel. Replacing it with this will get rid of the play around the centre and make turning more direct RE: Paul's 330i - Paul_13 - 06-10-2016 Type in on ebay e46 steering coupling For e46 though RE: Paul's 330i - Paul_13 - 06-10-2016 Seems as though I bought the last one RE: Paul's 330i - Midnightclub - 07-10-2016 Yeah can't see it now, will have to keep an eye out for one RE: Paul's 330i - Paul_13 - 07-10-2016 I'll send you through the name of the company |
