Road!! - Moonstone2.0 - 12-12-2011 What's your favourite road? I went on a drive into the Yorkshire Moors on Saturday and found an epic road between Hutton-le-hole and Rosedale Abbey. Was a difficult light and no tripod but took some snaps anyway. Part of the road: ![]() A quick brace of the freezing wind for a snap ![]() ![]() yes it's a dirty car but its winter... Re: Road!! - Pompey306mark - 12-12-2011 Simple fast cruising will be the A3m up to London or the A27 heading from pompey past chichester or the a34 if there is no traffic or lorries overtaking each other but that hardly ever happens. If you want fun country road driving then head up to the New Forest and then on to salisbury then into somerset. The drive to the cheddar meets and home again is a right blast at the right time of day with little or no traffic. I would like to go to Scotland or up North sometime to go on the real rural roads, would be great in my car. Re: Road!! - Dum-Dum - 12-12-2011 Heathrow airport ring road (and a few surrounding roads) at 3am, simply my favourite road lap. Re: Road!! - Kimmie - 12-12-2011 Lol, Chris I knew you were going to say that! There's a road near us in Denham that Scott likes.....when he got his 6, we drove up and down it about 20 times (there was a small tunnel...windows down ![]() Re: Road!! - Dum-Dum - 12-12-2011 ^^^ Kim is that the hill climb that goes past denham golf club station and the scout camp? If so i think it might be in my top 3 and same for spoony Re: Road!! - Kimmie - 12-12-2011 Possibly, I didn't pay too much attention as it was dark...I'll ask him ![]() Re: Road!! - Dum-Dum - 12-12-2011 Lol also if were alking about that area i love the dual carriageway from chalfont back to the A40 as it has LED cats eyes so you can turn your lights off, blast down there and feel like a fighter pilot. Re: Road!! - Matt - 12-12-2011 Dum-Dum Wrote:Lol also if were alking about that area i love the dual carriageway from chalfont back to the A40 as it has LED cats eyes so you can turn your lights off, blast down there and feel like a fighter pilot. Lol I have visions of you going down there making aeroplane noises haha Re: Road!! - Kimmie - 12-12-2011 Scott used to go to 6th form that way so loves it too....although it was somewhere near there that his mate crashed into the side of his Dtub! Chris- Scott said it's the road that Winkers is on? Problem is I'm always in the skoda when going down there and that handles like the titanic. Do like driving through the new forest not because there twisty roads but because it's just a nice place the drive through Re: Road!! - THE_Liam - 13-12-2011 I'll give you a great route if you spend a lot of time driving in Yorkshire. First of all, the moors are good but the dales are better. I know you spend time in York, so directions from there... http://www.theaa.com/route-planner/index.jsp# Type in York to Tan Hill Inn via Bedale, Hawes, Thwaite and Keld. That'll take you along the A684 into the dales which is a great fast A-road, then north from Hawes up Cliff Gate Road which is a great back road, then up the B6270 "Buttertubs Pass" which is the best driving road I know anywhere, then up onto Tan Hill up Stonesdale Road which is a bleak, single lane rollercoaster with steep drops and sharp crests that will see all 4 off the ground, up to a great pub (the highest in England) that does great food. Great Sunday drive, trust me, it's my favourite route ![]() Clarksons opinion... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLebmoXOukc Re: Road!! - mark_airey - 13-12-2011 masterj555 Wrote:this road 5 mins from my house, good call, its bloody bumpy in places is that road though! A massive straight section with hidden dips gets a little bit of lift ![]() ![]() and this in cornwall is pretty epic! wingmirrors touching on mouth sides up an extreme gradient with blind bends! ![]() http://g.co/maps/zvdd4 also just anything over any moors is simply epic! Or.... hand nock pass in the lake district ![]() Road!! - THE_Liam - 14-12-2011 You mean Hardknott Pass? The lake district has some amazing roads, Kirkstone Pass is brilliant as well, but I've never managed to drive any of them when it's quiet. It's easier to find deserted roads in the dales for some reason ![]() Re: Road!! - tachagti6 - 15-12-2011 Pompey306mark Wrote:Simple fast cruising will be the A3m up to London or the A27 heading from pompey past chichester or the a34 if there is no traffic or lorries overtaking each other but that hardly ever happens. Re: Road!! - lh_4827 - 31-12-2011 http://g.co/maps/8k6w5 woodhead road from holmfirth to Glossop. several fast corners, an airbourne moment, great views, and a great fooking huge drop should you get it wrong.. Re: Road!! - Dan - 01-01-2012 I havnt got any pictures at the min but the military road on the island has got to be one of the best roads for me its about 15 miles long, theres a few rough bits but its mostly smooth ![]() Re: Road!! - THE_Liam - 02-01-2012 lh_4827 Wrote:http://g.co/maps/8k6w5 +1, great road ![]() |
