Clutch alignment tool - DeeTurbo - 01-08-2016

Hi,

The one I got didn't fit the car when I had it a part.

I was wondering which ones you lot use?

RE: Clutch alignment tool - Toms306 - 01-08-2016

I use a Valeo one, came free with one of the clutches I did.

I cut the input shaft off a dead gearbox and put a handle on the end Smile

RE: Clutch alignment tool - tigerstyle - 01-08-2016

Bought a universal draper tool, never used it in the end and just got lucky getting the gearbox on!

I use old input shafts, tools and most of the time of ive got bothing that fits line it up by eye with a 1/2 or 3/8 extension

I used a deep 1/2 socket last time iirc, or the clutch tool that came in my gti6 valeo kit.

As some have said i use on the 306s the 1 that comes in with a valeo clutch. Shame not really any other makes do them and for the different cars as well.

I was thinking about this last night,

I'm now thinking that the way I do it with a deep 3/8" socket isn't the best.

Is the alignment tool only to centralise the clutch plate to allow the input shaft to locate or does it actually centralise the plate for when it's in use?

By this I mean if the plate isn't smack in the middle will the plate spin on the piss?

I'm thinking when you press the clutch the pressure plate releases and the clutch plate will be floating, is that right?

RE: Clutch alignment tool - tigerstyle - 01-08-2016

Clutch is always centered on the gearbox splines?
