So you got a £1000...

Running costs aside...whats the fastest thing you could buy...diesel or petrol...

And that can inc modding. Ie £850 and a £150 remap...

Has to be on the road.

Go...

I know its quite a generalism....but I'm not guna be that specific.

Lol trying to cause carnage on the forum.

In my current situation 1000 would build me a fast diesel, if i was to go out and really look though i reckon i could gt a faster petrol like a scooby or something. Im always getting offerd stuff at work

RE: £1000...fastest thing with 4 wheels...derv v perv - Piggy - 01-08-2016

It's surprising though how fast £1000 would dissapear with "building" a fast diesel...
When potentially you could buy a cheap tatty older motor for a grand that has big power...

Not trying to be specific as the argument could be a big lazy v8 is slow round a track but fast on a drag strip and a scooby be amazing off road etc...

Just 'fastest' in its most general term for £1000.

Obvious answer is motorbike. But I wana discuss 4wheels

£150 for rolling kart chassis
£500 for GSF600 engine or larger

£350 to weld it together

Is that road worthy though?

Really big V8 German cars can be had for under a grand, obviously quite old ones.
If you can find someone to remove the speed limiter most will get near 200mph.

RE: £1000...fastest thing with 4 wheels...derv v perv - fatlapit - 01-08-2016

motorbike which will be petrol

RE: £1000...fastest thing with 4 wheels...derv v perv - Toms306 - 01-08-2016

Motorbikes tend not to have 4 wheels...

This a daft question though, some people seem to be able to get amazing bargains on cars! That said, big thirsty petrols are usually cheap as no-one can fuel them so it'd be one of them for me lol...

RE: £1000...fastest thing with 4 wheels...derv v perv - Dum-Dum - 01-08-2016

Cheap chinese quad bike with blown engine.
Old carbed sports or superbike engine.
If budget will stretch a second hand nitrous kit.
Weld.

Road legal and the fastest thing with 4 wheels within the budget.

Could comfortably be 6-700bhp/tonne if you got the nitrous going.
TBH if you could get quad and rider under 250kg and then a more modern superbike engine plus a 100 shot of nitrous you could see 1000bhp/tonne.

RE: £1000...fastest thing with 4 wheels...derv v perv - tigerstyle - 01-08-2016

Bit different, and not sure there are any left that aren't in the bottom of ditches... But back in the day a friend had a Corsa with a 2.0 litre engine swap, CR20XE or something? Then there's the turbo version too. I don't like the marque or the car, but by now they must be cheap, and certainly feel very very fast!

RE: £1000...fastest thing with 4 wheels...derv v perv - r3k1355 - 01-08-2016

The Corsa's are cheap but the engines command a decent price because everyone and their mother is after doing a 2 litre conversion.

Old Golf or Scirocco with a modern 1.8T is a similar swap.

RE: £1000...fastest thing with 4 wheels...derv v perv - fatlapit - 01-08-2016

Id fit stabilisers

Maybe my pricing for those old Corsas must be out then, feels like they should be around £1K maybe not!
I think any golf with a 1.8T will be a lot more too.

RE: £1000...fastest thing with 4 wheels...derv v perv - welshpug - 01-08-2016

you wont get a 1.8t to saab turbo mapped power without lots of money.

RE: £1000...fastest thing with 4 wheels...derv v perv - Jonny81191 - 01-08-2016

I'm actually with welshpug on this, turbo saab's are fooking quick..

RE: £1000...fastest thing with 4 wheels...derv v perv - RetroPug - 01-08-2016

Probably not the fastest but both would be great fun to waft around in for the 15 miles inbetween fuel stations:

Bear in mind that these are both actually nice cars as well. The lexus is single owner, 25x service stamps, but with admittedly high miles. Imagine the fuel bill for total miles covered!
The merc is only 100k miles and has some service history as well, apparently.

RE: £1000...fastest thing with 4 wheels...derv v perv - Piggy - 01-08-2016

Lotta car for the money that merc

Indeed, girls will most likely think that you are rich and awesome as well.

You wouldn't be rich, but you'd definitely be awesome...

"Car this... CAr that.." fastest thing you can buy for under 1000 without tuning by FAR is a sportsbike of some sort.. starting at the FZR400/VFR400, and moving up to GSXr750s and fireblades... no competition
