Engine bearings ? - xudlingo - 18-06-2016

Hello so

Because I have such a good mate he killed my gti6 for me deep puddle ?
So one rod nice and bent changed it put one in from a other dead engine. I used the shells that was with crank/engine not new piston and was all good ran great water temp all good ?

New gasket
New plugs
New filter
New clutch cable

So booked in for mot took it a run then knock knock I'm a big end ??

Now thinking about buying new shells I'm starting to get fed up with it cars had 3 engines in my time Sad would it be worth it and I believe they have 2 different size bearings is this correct ?

if the big end is knocking just changing shells wont help
the crank will probably need work

option 2
measure crank buy sized bearings
Plastigauge the crank to see if bearings are within tollerance
rebuild fingers crossed journals arnt oval
