RE: The boosted 205 rat - pictures and video added (25.09.16) - ginge191 - 21-02-2017 Work resumed today. Excuse poor quality - camera wasn't wanting to focus for some reason. So the exhaust is all made up now - I didn't have time to fit it all, as I had to rush off and secondly it was HOT. FINAL bits to do... - Install return for the turbo - First, fine the damn hard pipe for the turbo as i seemed to have misplaced it.. - Route and mount the intercooler and piping Then it's done! End is in sight! Oh, and it's going straight up for sale as I need the space for project number two, so, spread the word. RE: The boosted 205 rat - pictures and video added (25.09.16) - ginge191 - 03-04-2017 So this is alive and kicking. Manifold and exhaust finally bolted up. Took for a drive up and down the private lane and runs a treat! Needs Intercooler piping up, but, apart from that, she's good for the MOT! Hopefully having this fully road legal and worthy in the next few weeks. Gah. Updating this via my phone. Pictures are doubled and no video. I'll get round to it.. RE: The boosted 205 rat - pictures and video added (25.09.16) - zx_volcane - 04-04-2017 ginge, whats up with that downpipe? looks like it goes down to about 1/2 inch before the flexi ... Although it doesn't look like it - it's a gradual reducer - The outlet for the existing downpiepe on the turbo is 3" / 4" if i remember right. It was either build a plate which would adapt for the 2" exhaust but cover the exhaust 'hole' on the exisiting downpipe, OR, get a graduated reducer to take it down to the exhaust size, which is what we went for. That OR we make a custom downpipe which was out of the question as this was ideal. Does that make sense? RE: The boosted 205 rat - pictures and video added (25.09.16) - ginge191 - 16-04-2017 Finally got round to fitting some IC piping to this - the final step! Excuse the lack of headlight - mid replacement. The IC 'for now' will be held up with a combination of bottom chasis/bumper/cable ties (not those white ones, thick, heavy duty ties will be used) Annoyingly, only route I can find at the moment with this IC is under the front chasis leg as around the rad is so damn tight. Tomorrow's job is to cut the last bits of pipe and connect it all up. Again, this isn't made to be prettyl, just functional for now. Ideal would be a slimmer radiator and allow some more space for pipework to get around, but, make do with what there is. C&C welcomed as always! Be good to see this going down the road Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk RE: The boosted 205 rat - pictures and video added (25.09.16) - ginge191 - 17-04-2017 And she's done pipework is to be desired... but it's functional. Runs as should - for an OEM spec Dturbo engine. Yet to have some time fiddling with boost and fuel, but, as far as a 1.9 XUD 205 goes, it goes! This is up for sale as of now - open to all offers as it's either going to get stripped or scrapped. Purely because my eyes are on the next project already. Currently via fueling - LDA isn't kicking in enough to warrant any control of the wastegate. Once i've got the fueling sorted, I can look at mounting the actuator which came with the turbo - due to the clocking of the compressor housing, there wasn't a way of mounting the actutor. No doubt now it's all in place, it can be looked at again. (17-04-2017, 08:37 PM)Doseph Wrote: MAAAAAAD - cant wait to have my own one of these It's for sale - come grab it! The pictures make it look a lot lower than what it actually is. It's actually touching the lower chassis where the rad sits - so 2" below that is the lowest point. RE: The boosted 205 rat - pictures and video added (25.09.16) - zx_volcane - 18-04-2017 oh heck, get an actuator on it quicksharp your turbo will thankyou for it x RE: The boosted 205 rat - pictures and video added (25.09.16) - ginge191 - 18-04-2017 (18-04-2017, 06:15 AM)zx_volcane Wrote: oh heck, get an actuator on it quicksharp Boost is reading 2psi at the moment - there's a fair bit of pump playing to be done, but yes, once boost starts climbing, it's definitely something to be done! RE: The boosted 205 rat - pictures and video added (25.09.16) - ginge191 - 21-04-2017 OLittle work on this today; had a little play with fuel pump, minor tweaking and took for another drive. Worked up to about 10psi at the moment ; concluded WG had movement. Fitted actuator - didn't drive it again as the day was getting on; but so far, it drives very well Oh, and the white gum around the manifold, there was a teeny pin prick size hole, didn't warrant a weld - could be seen on a cold startup from a cute white puff exiting a corner. The heat wrap will go on soon |
