S16 cams - Dan Baines 89 - 24-03-2016

Recently got hold of a 306 s16 with a snapped cambelt, managed to get a second hand head for it, complete with cams.

The head is a Richard longman item which has been ported and fitted with a set of kent pt81 cams.

My question is are there any clearance issues, i know the gti6's were limited to what cams you could fit, is this the same or is there plenty of room and secondly am i going to see any gains or is it worth banging the standard ones in.

Many thanks in advance

Dan

Clearance is much better on 1.9 and 2.0 Mi16/S16 engines than on GTi-6.

However, given that you say that it has PT81 cams, does that mean that you've bought a GTi-6 head as those cams won't fit an S16 head?

Good question ,i'm just going by what the advert said, i haven't even removed them yet to check for markings. I'm sure its an s16 head as it has individual cam carriers as opposed to a solid one on the gti6 heads.

They've made a nice job of porting it and the valves also look bigger than that of a gti-6 too.

Thanks for the reply

Dan

S16 cams are PT2001 to PT2006
