Xud non-start - n0v0s - 05-03-2016 So it's been sitting for over a year, but starts up instantly. Runs fine but brakes were siezed. So I went to drive it forward with the intention to get the brakes to unsieze. I applied some revs, but it wouldn't budge. Left it to idle for a few seconds, idle speed had dropped a bit. Nothibg drastic. Maybe from 1k to 6/70,0rpm. But this happens sometimes, thought nothing of it. Turned engine off. Went to re start about 5/10 mins later and it wouldn't fire. Not even catching. Figured one of the fuel hoses was a bit suspect, some slight perforations in it - so loading the engine may possibly have made it draw some air into fuel system. Changed line, plumbed in priming grenade. Fuel coming to pump inlet. Still no start. Cracked fuel line unions off at pump, no fuel coming through.Checked solenoid. Has 12v. Removed solenoid - plunger was stuck. Unstuck it. Primed grenade - fuel came out of solenoid hole. So have fuel upto the vane pump. Replaced solenoid - still no fuel coming out of pump on cranking. Freezing my nuts off outside, can't even push it in the garage due to brakes. The grenade one way valve doesn't seem to work great although the pump is full of fuel so some fuel should at least come out!? Would welcome any input Cheers RE: Xud non-start - pugman3061 - 05-03-2016 hi has you pug got a borch fuel pump or a Lucas ? RE: Xud non-start - n0v0s - 05-03-2016 Hey, It's a Bosch RE: Xud non-start - pugman3061 - 05-03-2016 does engine sound like its got compression when turning over ? RE: Xud non-start - n0v0s - 05-03-2016 Yh sounds good, belt hasn't slipped. Even so, the pump is turning and fuel should come out the pump delivery valves where I have removed the fuel lines from. RE: Xud non-start - pugman3061 - 05-03-2016 have you got a positive feed to the fuel pump i had a similar problem the main relay that powers the fuel pump was breaking down connect a piece of wire from the pos on the battery strait to the start stop solenoid you should hear it click when u put the wire on the solenoid this bypasses the car now prime the fuel pump as someone is turning it over and see if fuel comes through RE: Xud non-start - n0v0s - 05-03-2016 Yh I've got a 12v feed at the solenoid, its activating RE: Xud non-start - n0v0s - 06-03-2016 My brain thawed. Removed solenoid - hey presto, got fuel coming through. Solenoid was stuck! Sorted RE: Xud non-start - mr_fish - 07-03-2016 Good to hear you got it started. Just for interest, I had this issue and that was a weak solenoid. RE: Xud non-start - n0v0s - 07-03-2016 Although the solenoid was getting 12v feed, it turns out it wasn't activating the solenoid when in the pump. Dodgy connection. So I got a direct feed from the battery in the end. Xud style immobiliser! Just open engine bay and wire up to start! Old solenoid was sticking for sure though. RE: Xud non-start - Dave - 08-03-2016 the old stuck solenoid problem hehe, its s nightmare when these things drop under top rpm aswell, the engine brake on these blocks is pretty extreme when you dont expect it haha |
