195/45/16?
Or 205/45/16?

Can't see Goodyear Efficient Grip or Dunlop Blueresponse in the 205 size?
Those would have been my choices I think for value/quality.

Perhaps Rainsport 3's again..

I've got 205s on mine, 195s are a bit cheaper though.

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - Toms306 - 21-02-2016

205s can be a bit wide if you've got a wonky beam lol.

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - welshpug - 21-02-2016

205's, look to pilot sport 3.

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - tigerstyle - 21-02-2016

205/50/16 is perhaps better? Or too big compared to 45s?
I've got spacers for the rear, think they are 15 or 20mm.

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - welshpug - 21-02-2016

nah 205 50 would be a bit tall.

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - tigerstyle - 21-02-2016

read that is the standard 406 size, suppose we need to be a bit smaller on our 306 Smile

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - welshpug - 21-02-2016

yes.

look up willtheyfit.com

standard 306 wheel is 6x15 et19 with 195 55 15.

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - toseland - 21-02-2016

205/45/16s will fit with original spacing on 16's comfortably and not foul the shocks on the front.

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - Dum-Dum - 21-02-2016

205/50R16 fits alright on a 306 and does give a little more comfort if you aren't super low

Really? I offered some up and they looked like they would foul the strut, it's very close on 205/45/16

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - Piggy - 22-02-2016

205/50 fit...just have to space them right

Presume spacers required front and rear for those?
I was hoping to just use rear spacers

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - Piggy - 22-02-2016

One of my biggest annoyances when people only use rear spacers...

You know the 306 track width is the same front/rear?

So if the rear needs spacers...then the front does too!

Its not, its 30mm narrower.

however you are correct that the front to rear track width difference are best maintained, or increased at the front, not the rear.

look at the best handling FWD cars and you'll see they are particularly wide up front.

a 911 Turbo for example, the polar opposite.

I'd disagree, the wheel arches front to back differ, so spacers on rear does not equal spacers required on front.
For aesthetics but more importantly handling keeping it as Peugeot made it has its merits as Welshpug mentions, but getting them fitting it step 1, final tweaks stage 2.

...I'm not going to compare my fwd Peugeot 306 to a rwd 911!

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - Piggy - 22-02-2016

Yeah i didnt explain that very well. I meant that offset is same...ie you need to balance front n rear.

Welshy did explain it well mind. As he said...look at well setup fwd cars

if offsets are equal yes you do.

though an ET28 wheel will fit the front, you're best with a 15mm spacer.

you haven't said what wheel you have chosen though?

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - tigerstyle - 22-02-2016

ET28 Ourangons (Nimrods)

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - Dum-Dum - 22-02-2016

Yep, 205/50R16 fits without fouling struts. This was 16" Berlingo steels (ET31 I believe) and 15mm spacers taking you down to ET16

If I remember correctly it was actually more of an issue on the outer edge as the more balloon like sidewall was either bloody close to or fouled the arch lip on big bumps.

heres a comparison of original wheel and tyre to an ouragan with 15mm spacer snd 205 45

Oraguans and nimrods have different offsets by the way.

So with et28 you will want a minimum 10mm spacer front AND rear. 15mm probably better

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - tigerstyle - 22-02-2016

They're et28? Call em what you like they're et28.
Unless I'm misunderstanding your post?

10mm should be fine as that'll take you to the ET18 that the 306 runs standard.

Yeah...just saying the two names are given because there are TWO types of those alloys...hence the two names.
Some from a 206, some from the 406. They have two different offsets

Yeah...but standards for old peoples

RE: Best tyre size for Nimrods? - welshpug - 22-02-2016

et19 only applies to 6" wide wheels, all 16" ouragans are 6.5" wide.

both offsets are stamped ouragan btw, no idea where the nimrod name came from.

And people who don't want to roll their arches and remove their liners.

If your suspension is healthy and setup well there isno need for all that messing for 5mm!
