speedo needle flicker - sam90 - 11-01-2016

hi guys my speedo needle occasionally flickers or jumps when i start the car up. has only been a couple of times. i think it may be the speedo cable but just wondered if u guys have had any other probs?

If all the dials are jumping about it'll be the battery on its way out or a dodgy earth or it might be the speedo sensor. Does the speedo drop out ever?

HDi is electronic drive so I suspect it's a failing speed sensor which is common. Located on top of the diff housing.

My Rallye does this, turn the key and sometimes the speedo will flick up to about 8mph and then fall again
